Weapon (pistol), uncommon (requires attunement)
A creature hit with a ranged attack from this pistol appears marked with paint, as if splashed by a brush. You choose the paint color each time. Instead of attacking with the weapon, you can use an action while holding it to fire it at a point you can see on a solid surface (such as the ground or a wall) within 30 feet of you. The bullet explodes harmlessly upon impact and sprays wet paint, which covers the area in a 10-foot square centered on the point.
The paint remains wet until the start of your next turn. While the paint is wet, any creature that enters that area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or fall prone. Regardless of whether the creature succeeds or fails, it then treads the colored paint behind itself for the next minute, potentially preventing it from hiding or otherwise escaping detection.
The paint remains for 1 hour, at which point it flakes away and turns to dust.
There he was, face down in a puddle of red. She rushed over to him, tears already welling up in her eyes.
Then he stood up, wiping the paint from his face and grumbling about some sort of misfire.
She never visited the workshop again after that.
