July 2025 Update - 50,000 Words!

Hello everyone!

I wanted to wait to update you for the start of the month until I could tell you this: A rough draft of the second script is complete!

I'm planning on this Hawaiian Kingdom project being three videos and the first two are already written. Script 1 covers pre-contact to 1843 and is 27,000 words long. Script 2 covers 1840 to 1887 and is 23,000 words. I'm not sure how long the next one will be, which will cover from 1887 to present, but I anticipate it being around the same length. If that holds, this project will be over 7 hours of content across 3 videos.

Getting the second script done was a major hurdle. I'm fairly confident that the first video will do well just by virtue of being my first video back in a while. But this second video, as the middle in the trilogy, will determine the success of the third video. I've done pairs before (Vegetarianism/Kellogg), but never a trilogy, so writing this "bridge" script was an interesting challenge.

I'm sure I'll be tweaking and adjusting these scripts a lot before I film, but it's nice to know that I'm already over the halfway mark. Writing has always been my bottleneck and I'm looking forward to moving on to filming and editing.
