Remnant of the Bigfoot video

Thought I'd upload this, it's a very special thing to me.

Back in 2020, I did a mini-series covering the History Channel. In that video, I promised that one day I would make a follow-up mini-series covering BIGFOOT.

Obviously, things got sidetracked, and the Bigfoot video has remained an enduring meme with fans of the content who know some of my older stuff before the iCarly saga. Well, you'll be interested to know that I have done at least one day of filming for the Bigfoot video! Which you can see in the second half of this upload (the first half is some vacation footage I shot, with a LOT of black because the film went bad).

I'm fascinated by Super 8 film, so I like to collect cameras and film on super 8 whenever it can work thematically. It almost never does, which is good in some ways because it's stupidly expensive. But I decided to shoot some super 8 footage for the Bigfoot video, for a joke I had in mind.

Basically, the person who filmed the infamous California Bigfoot video was, himself, a massive Bigfoot nerd before that. He even wrote a big theorizing what Bigfoot would look like, with illustrations that match up perfectly to the home video he recorded afterwards.

This is rarely spoken of in bigfoot lore and culture, because it's a lot more credible to just posit him as a "wild cowboy who was in the right place at the right time, and didn't know what he was seeing." My argument is that if someone tried to claim GARFIELD was real, it would be a lot LESS credible coming from me. So I shot this footage as a visual for that gag.

The big question I get asked at least once a month is... Will the Bigfoot video ever come back? Will I ever finish it? And the answer is, as with all 74 of the videos I've promised over the last few years, I'd really like to say yes.

The issue is that the Bigfoot video, despite what a lot of people PRESUME, is not just me reviewing some reality shows or cheesy B-movies. It was meant to be a real documentary, with coverage of the history of America's biggest urban legend. It would be a lot more cynical than most Bigfoot documentaries, meaning that I would mainly have to pull from books and primary sources, making my own visuals, and even doing potential interviews.

And it's hard for me to imagine putting aside time for a project that complicated, when I know that it would be less successful than me just describing some shitty kids' show for 5 hours instead.

But one day, I do want to finish this baby, partially just to use this wacky footage that I filmed so many years ago. It would probably just be one long video instead of a mini-series now.

I will note, with some brutal honesty, that I think about working on this video a lot more often than the fuckin Homestuck whatever I promised

The History Channel content remains the coolest shit I have ever seen on YT. I have been showing off with my knowledge from the series a lot.

I'm so excited to hear that you're still considering this project. This is THE video of yours that I've been hoping to see someday in the future. I was just talking to a friend and saying I hoped it was still a possibility. I didn't know that you were planning on making it so exhaustive, so I completely understand if it ends up scrapped or significantly reduced, but I can tell you that if it does come out, I'll be bugging everyone I know to give it a view.
