Regalia of the Huey Tlatoani

Official regalia of the Huey Tlatoani (great ruler) of Tenochtitlan, primarily based on Fernando Alvarado Tezozomoc's "Cronica Mexicana" (1598)

This is an updated version of my previous infographic made in 2019. This is the regalia that Mexica rulers would wear to important ceremonies and state events such as their coronation, and inauguration of temples.

Mexica rulers sometimes put the jaguar skin on their thrones as a mat!

The Aztec emperor's clothing stands out for the splendor of color and pattern rather than metal. I think the animal that suits his dignity is also a jaguar.
