Death of Tenochca Tlatoani Chimalpopoca (re. 1415~1426)
According to “official” Mexica history, Chimalpopoca was assassinated by Maxtla of Azcapotzalco. However, based on circumstantial evidence and sources from the other viewpoint, it is more likely that Itzcoatl, later tlatoani of Tenochtitlan, incited a coup and killed their own king. Tlacopan could have been an accomplice, because they became the capital of Tepanecapan after the Tepaneca War (1426~1430).
