Some years back I came across these extremely rare Lili St.Cyr pasties and the original ad came later. I have since sold one set to an avid collector. I know they are in good hands but now I will forever be searching for more. Haven’t found any more yet. I still kick myself for selling them. Have you ever collected anything, sold it and immediately regretted it?
Born Marie Frances Van Schaack on June 3, 1917. She performed under the name Lili St. Cyr when she was on stage. And she was on stage ALOT! She was one of the most famous burlesque artists (she hated the term stripper) of the mid century. She was known for her “flying g string routine” but her acts ranged from her famous bathtub routine to her suicide routine.
St. Cyr worked 1944 to 1951 at Montreal’s Gayety Theatre but the Catholic Clergy did everything they could to run her out and eventually the Gayety closed after Lili was arrested for public indecency and was arrested again later. She had an incredible career in burlesque and Hollywood and left this realm Jan 29 1999. Rest in Power Lili St.Cyr #strippinghistory #lilistcyr
