Tiny Victories

I’ve been in this house in Illinois for three months and in that time I’ve been in the process of healing so it’s important to take it slow. With that in mind, I’ve been taking my time pulling my house together but I’ve felt inspired to have another beautiful photo nook.
Finally we have gotten the space to a point where we can shoot. Today was our first run with shooting in this space. I’ve covered all the many windows in white sheer curtains and we have a new lighting set up. I love how it all works together to create the perfect light box.
Soon I will be hanging my fathers backdrops in my Illinois studio. I remember repairing and hand painting some of them with him. It will be an honor to have them in my studio.

2022-12-30 09:01:11 +0000 UTCI have a few things from my maternal grandparents and two maternal great-grandmothers that they either gave to me directly or were passed down to me. I reckon you could call them “precious”, but I’ve never really thought of them that way until now. Especially my one great-grandmother’s mid-20th century silverware that I use on a daily basis. 😂 I have the other great-grandmother’s china (which I never use) and a German brandy snifter her brother liberated from France during WWII. There’s a story about how I ended up with that which I suppose makes it “precious”, even though the symbol on it is 💩.
