vintage Hawaiian house dress

Sometimes I find that many of my favorite pieces are simple, inexpensive, cute little pieces I’ve picked up on the road. This vintage Hawaiian house dress I purchased in Clinton Iowa of all places. There are a multitude of incredible vintage shops in Clinton Iowa. I don’t even know where to begin because I would feel bad if I left anybody out considering I grew up there. If you decide to go to Clinton Iowa for a little day trip, all you have to do is drive through town and you will see all kinds of vintage and antique shops. Somebody was recently asking me about the best places in the United States to find vintage and antiques. My answer was pretty simple, if I had a lot of money I like to go out east. The East Coast is always were the oldest antiques and vintage live and always worth checking out if you have the extra cash! If I happen to be cash poor, I visit small town locations. Sometimes I have to look extra hard because the work has not been done for me already but I really love going into Salvation Army, Goodwill, church basements, Kings daughters, these types of shops have already sifted through what’s trash and what is treasure and it’s easier to find treasures then picking through somebody’s attic or basement. However, if you have access to peoples attic‘s, basements, barns etc. never hurts to ask if they have anything for sale. I do it all the time and that’s where I come up with some of my favorite items! There are so many places to have incredible vintage hunts across the world, but I don’t overlook your own backyard. Often times there are people sitting on mounds of vintage and antiques that belong to family that they don’t really know what to do with because they don’t want to hold onto it but they also don’t wanna throw it away. They want to put these things in a place of honor but they don’t necessarily know how. Never stop the search. Vintage is everywhere! And it’s always worth the adventure to go find it. Because what were really looking for, often times, is not necessarily the item but the story of your adventures finding it.

Well going into a vintage shop is always fun, My favorite vintage adventures are always the least expected ones that return me to the backroads of America.
