Water In Motion

In learning more about cameras and lenses and housing units for our underwater photography we are also learning about lighting and capturing the moment. The movement in the water and the light spilling onto the waves are everything. We realize that the more movement we have with bubbles the more exciting the photograph is.

I’ll have to watch it again!

It's true - all the photographs of you slipping smoothly through the water imply a certain peace and serenity. Lots of roiling bubbles in the water imply more energetic motion and intensity, especially, as in this photo, something or someone emerges dramatically from the cloud of bubbles. A great example of this is the underwater fight scene in the James Bond movie "Thunderball" (I think) with two armies of scuba divers battling under the ocean. Lots of clouds of bubbles highlight the action as the divers clash.
