Did you know that there used to be a fan dancers Union? The fan dancers Union was set up to help protect the fan dancers much the way that any other union does. It’s important to have the rights of artists protected just like the tradesmen who use unions to protect their pay scale, health, wellness, careers etc. Sally Rand was a member of the fan dancers Union.💗 where did the fan dancers Union go? Why is it no longer here? do you think it would be a good idea to still have fan dancers protected in their careers?

I’m researching these questions right now. Amber DiGiovanni and myself are working hard to get the fan dancers Union going again. I’m hoping to release more information with stripping history Detroit dirty show in February. There is very little information on the fan dancers Union but what little information there is, I just picked from Amber DiGiovanni. I am still on the road so I haven’t had an opportunity to look through all of her Notes from her Museum. As soon as I get settled in Puerto Rico it’s all coming out. It’s gonna look like crime scene investigators. There will be notes everywhere all over the walls so that I can connect the dots. I do have one very rare negative of the fan dancers union meeting. The women all came with their fans which I thought was beautiful. Somebody happen to snap a shot from the back of the room so there are no faces you just see women sitting there with their fans listening to the speaker. I know Sally rand was a part of this union but I don’t believe she created the union. I’m thrilled that Amber kept every scrap of paper about Sally. I’m still researching it as I find out more I will certainly let you know!

2019-10-18 14:43:11 +0000 UTCI’m curious if it was limited to fan dancers, or if it covered a wider variety of exotic performers?? I would love to see burlesque unions take hold... performers need more support in this business.
