I'm so happy you're reacting to this!! I think you misheard Louis in the beginning. He said that Claudia told him that SHE doesn't dream when he was telling her about his own bad dreams. She also wrote in her diary that she never dreams, so when he remembers that he actually SAW her dreaming once, he's realizes it wasn't true. It makes him emotional because he can see now that some stuff in the diary was just something she wrote; it's not all necessarily true including some of the hurtful things she wrote about him and how she felt about him.
