THE FRUITS OF OUR LABOR
I feel as though my work never stops, for better and worse. I love what I do, I enjoy the people I collaborate with, and I achieve immense satisfaction when creating images that surprise and even inspire me back. But don’t be fooled, this is still work.
Work implies being forced to do something, to struggle, to toil, to be diligent and focused. Work takes time, it takes effort. Thankfully, I do have far more freedom in this kind of work than the decades I spent flipping burgers or suffering through mindless, soul-stealing office jobs. I’m lucky for the life I have, for the achievements I’ve made and continue to strive for.
Pressed today to start off February is one of my new favorite series of Jay Marie, who of course is unique herself. This was taken in my backyard in yet another socially-distanced shoot. It was almost an afterthought, taken when we were supposedly done for the day. I recalled her liking images on my Instagram profile that had similar background, so she changed and we tried it out.
The whole series was effortless and perfect, and one that I’m so glad I pushed forward on. She loves these images, and we’re both proud of what we achieved that day. Please enjoy this special series, I know you own’t be disappointed!
