WHERE I COME FROM

Now well into a second month of quarantine, I’ve been thinking a lot about my hoe town here. I’m so happy to have been born and raised in a somewhat small, rural community. With my family owning a small restaurant, I knew a majority of the townspeople and there wasn’t a day that I ran into someone we knew. Everything was open, everything seemed honest and straightforward, no artifice or opportunism. For the most part, what you saw is what you got.

It’s grown considerably in the last forty years. I’m old enough now to be that mopey old guy who can tell the younger generation. while looking out over business or housing tracks, “I can remember when this was all fields…”

Still, the core is the same. The intention, for the most part, is the same of the much-expanded townsfolk today.

I know at least two people currently in the ICU with Covid19. One is old and may not make it. The other is only in his early 50s, and before all this was pretty fit and healthy. No one knows what the future holds, but all we can do is be there for each other, whether we live in close-knit communities or a vast metropolis.  

I hope you’ll all enjoy this massive series, featuring over 750 images of the fun, adorable Alyssa. She’s a real sweetheart, always a joy to work with. Please continue doing your best out there in this crazy world. And please be kind to each other and stay safe.
