Aila's Ramblings - 3/18/22 - Downloadable Chaps

Hello!  

I apologize for being so quiet and not responding to the comments. Aside from taking a break from writing, I also had PTO from work for two weeks, so this week, I was catching up on all my emails, on ERP, and all the other fun work-related things.  I probably should've taken my break after fiscal year end.

You guys spotted some inconsistencies and awkward sentences, so I'll go and fix them this weekend.  If there is any awkward sentences or confusing scenes that should be reworded for clarity, please let me know.  

📖 Question: epub files and Downloadable Chapters? 📖

Brian brought up a good point: the first dozen or so chapters of the story aren't on Patreon, so I should find a way to post them.  

Would 10 chapter epub files work for everyone?  Each chapter is over 5K, so 10 chapters is like a novel in itself.  Please let me know what you think and what formats you think would work best.  This is my first time trying something like this, so let's experiment and figure out what works best.

As far as any edits to those chapters go, I'll do a read through and try to fix any continuity errors, clarify POVs, figure out things that don't make sense to me any longer, and so forth, but they should not change the bulk of the story.  For example, I think in the beginning, I mentioned Kasen was nine years older than Tori, but I changed it to eight later.  It should not be a huge difference.

As with many of these serialized webnovels, as they are incomplete, it's not as neat and tidy as a usual, completed novel would be.  While I do review the chapters, go back and change things, reword stuff, and move scenes around, these chapters are very close to 'first drafts' to me.  At best, maybe 'second drafts', but as it's incomplete, I don't feel it's as smooth as it can be.  I'm slowly working on it as I go along, so I really do appreciate everyone's time and efforts when they point out inconsistencies and what not. 🤗

📚 Side Stories 📚

I'm going to try a side story from Tori's mother's (Antonia) POV starting from her 3rd year at Lycee, which is the future Emperor's 1st year, and the year she meets her future husband (Gregorio/Tori's Papa).   This will likely be more than one chapter.

I'm also interested in a random NPC's POV of the story events.  I am considering doing so from Alessa's roommate's (Natalia) POV, but as I got started, I thought it may hint too much at spoilers, so that will likely go up much later.

The same issue popped up with the Emperor's POV.  His father, the Emperor Emeritus (Piers' and Gideon's grandfather), is still alive and it hasn't been mentioned where he is or what he's doing.  

For the person who wants Tori to have adventures with a cat: I'll wiggle that in somewhere in the main story first - at least mention a cat.  

Lastly, for all of those who submitted an NPC name and/or village, I'm going to add them to a reference sheet of random characters (eventually).
