DARK ARTS
I’ve been drawn to darker images lately. Blackness, mood and tone that conveys mystery and emotions that people only talk about in hushed tones. Fear, anger, resentment, frustration, and ultimately desire.
Though I’ve never been a fan of wearing black, the older I become I realize that there isa value to it. Black is a symbol of night, of uncertainty, of not knowing what is to come. It’s the darkness that fairy tales warned us about, it is the knock at the door at an uncertain hour.
This series was taken while driving around my hometown at night with Erika. We had discussed this shoot for a long time, and though our schedules didn’t seem to work out for a long time, we finally were able to make it happen. As expected, Erika was fabulous, easy going, and always a professional. We’ve been friends for so long now that we almost don’t have to talk about what we’re going to shoot, I only need to say “Go!”
