Major Schedule Change for October - READ ME
Added 2024-09-25 20:39:05 +0000 UTCHey all!
I'll get right to it: I'm sick, I've been sick ever since I caught covid, and my writing pace has tanked massively. I've managed to keep my quality up, but my quantity is suffering quite a bit, and I've been burning backlog to stay on top of it.
My backlog's officially redlining right now. It's too small, and I'm taking drastic measures to not end up writing against the deadline, which will MURDER quality super duper hard.
I'm dropping to two chapters a week in October. I'm also changing up how I work a bit, and I should be able to hopefully completely reanimate my backlog to where it belongs. At which point, in November, I'll be returning to the usually-scheduled 3 chapters/week.
My goal here is to maximize my backlog, which will help my quality as I'm able to give each chapter the needed attention over the weeks it percolates.
Next week will have THREE CHAPTERS still. It's the last week of September by my logic. 7th-11th is admin week AKA Selkie trying to get better, then the next three weeks are 2 chapters each instead of three.
Basically, I'm 'only' missing three chapters. I feel terrible over it though, I'm so sorry.
I'm really sorry, I didn't want to come to this, but it's the best of a bad lot.
Poll to decide which two days a week I'm posting.
Cheers!
Selkie

I think Monday, Friday would be best. You get 3 days between Mon/Fri, and 2 days between Fri/Mon. Your health is the main issue right now.

2024-09-27 18:12:39 +0000 UTCHang on lemme put this on the scale. (A healthy author who can keep writing my favorite book) ⚖ (My favorite book). Yeah that's a massive lean to the left. Take care of yourself! No chapters until you feel better is just fine!

2024-09-26 06:10:18 +0000 UTCWhat the others are saying, your health absolutely comes first and having to deal with covid is all the justification anyone should need to take their time to focus on staying alive and healthy. So you take the time needed, slow down the release rate as needed. Absolutely noone here should be upset at you for this, including yourself so make sure your boss knows to give himself the time off required!

2024-09-26 04:16:28 +0000 UTCNo chapters is fine until you’re healed. I can’t speak for anyone else but I won’t be going anywhere regardless.

2024-09-25 23:59:27 +0000 UTCTake your time and concentrate on quality. Take time off altogether if you need it. We would all rather you focus on your health. Your Patreon is already great value; having it drop for a while to merely good value is not much of a sacrifice - and I for one would be fine with you taking a proper break to recover.

2024-09-25 22:58:59 +0000 UTCJust write a chapter a week of your thoughts and meditations and worries. I am subscribed to you, not to your stories. Doodle something in Microsoft paint and post it. Do a extra bad dramatic reading of your favorite passage. Share your playlist for writing or relaxing. Share your brownie recipe. Write a rant on recent politics. I would love to know you more as an author and person even if I don't get one more chapter about Elaine.

2024-09-25 22:32:50 +0000 UTCHonestly if you're struggling I'd prefer you to drop to one chapter a week. Self care is SUPER important and we want you to feel better.

2024-09-25 21:44:39 +0000 UTCOk so if I have to pick 2 of the 3 then I pick Monday and Friday because they’re furthest apart. But honestly I’m of the opinion that you need to take whatever time you need to recover.

2024-09-25 21:43:10 +0000 UTCAs someone who strugles with maintaining a backlog, I know the pain. Do what you need to do, quality will always be more import than quantity.

2024-09-25 21:11:10 +0000 UTCHope you get better soon! Super happy you are prioritizing your health before anything else! Far too many Authors push themselves too far and burn out. Glad to see you know when health needs to be a priority

2024-09-25 20:50:41 +0000 UTCMotherlover, i can’t believe you’re back on this. Stop bloody apologising for being human. If you’re feeling ill, down, behind, whatever, take a pissing break. Just post updates on how you’re doing, that you’re still alive, and start taking better care of yourself. Don’t feel guilty. You can’t take care of us, your readers, if you’re face down dead in a ditch, from a stressed induced aneurysm. Do what you need to do, we will still be here.

2024-09-25 20:45:25 +0000 UTCTake the time you need - reduced output is better than reduced quality or burnout. I know folks hate seeing authors go on hiatus, but it can be important for health if it comes to that.

2024-09-25 20:45:14 +0000 UTCI vote no days per week until recovery. You seem to have missed that option in the polls.
