Versus in this story, the guy got killed +20,000 years ago, and its history has been wiped by immortal wars several times over. The number of people that remember the poor bastard probably number a couple dozen at best.

She probably just assumed the knight was male, then realized it was a Valkyrie. I could be wrong, though, and it could be a typo, it depends on how Iona's mallium was currently structured when she was walking up.

Other wise yes a high end flash light could be possible but not sure since most would not work after being damaged. Given the description is only Radience magic that leaves a lot of leeway between nightlight and death star for what it can do.

From how Night described it, his tenure didn't last longer than maby a couple of decades max, after Elaine disappeared. He died during her brother's life time as a senator. From a historical point of view, he did a shit job at the whole Immortal thing.

In case of emergency, a portion of the city will brake off and fly away. Besides that, I can't think of anything else right now.

Characters I know and care about, doing things that actively affect the plot or contribute to a sense of mystery. Amber’s scene is just *chef’s kiss*. This is how interludes should be done—not laying out scattered puzzle pieces to hopefully hint at a backstory, but instead giving slices of mystery which are fun to read even without the context of a larger narrative.
