Godfather System C100 Expansion to Vegas
Added 2024-06-28 22:31:56 +0000 UTCLas Vegas, Nevada. The neon lights that once illuminated the McAfee Syndicate's territory now cast a sinister glow, signaling a shift in power. Word traveled through the underworld like wildfire - the McAfee's empire had fallen prey to the cunning "Wolf Familia."
The McAfee's affiliate gangs were taken aback, their operations now under the control of this mysterious newcomer. They thought it would be Harris, the syndicate's underboss, who would take the reins. But the rumors that followed, sent shivers down their spines.
In dimly lit speakeasies and backroom card games, informants whispered of a man shrouded in secrecy, donning a golden mask. The new boss of the McAfee Syndicate, they said, was none other than the elusive leader of the Los Angeles-based "Wolf Familia," a group responsible for the downfall of the infamous Cohen Syndicate.
In the opulent Roth residence, Hyman Roth paced his plush office, his face twisted in disbelief. His lieutenants had just informed him of his rival's downfall - the McAfee Syndicate now belonged to the "Wolf Familia" and their elusive leader.
"How did this happen?" Roth growled, as he stopped in front of the large, panoramic window overlooking the city. "Guy McAfee was a rabid dog; he would've gone down swinging."
"We're as in the dark as you are, boss," one of his lieutenants admitted.
Meanwhile, at the former McAfee residence, the new boss, the man in the golden mask, sat behind the mahogany desk, lit cigar in hand. He now pulled the receiver of the rotary phone to his ear, his voice disguised by a gravelly voice modulator.
Lorenzo adjusted the ornate golden mask on his face as he chuckled into the rotary phone, dwarfed by the oversized leather chair he now sat in. "Hey, Adam, my 'business meeting' with Guy went off without a hitch..."
Thousands of miles away in Los Angeles, Adam's voice wavered with genuine concern. "Really? Thank goodness you're safe, boss. I've been worried, you didn't even take any of the boys with you."
"Don't worry about me, brother," Lorenzo said, unable to keep the smug satisfaction from his voice. "In fact, the 'meeting' went so well that now I'm the new boss of the McAfee Syndicate."
Silence on the line, broken only by the static of the long-distance call. "Did I hear that right? You're the boss of the McAfees?" Adam's voice was a mix of disbelief and awe.
"That's right," Lorenzo said, the golden mask glinting in the dimly lit office. "It's all mine now."
"H-how in the world!?" Adam spluttered, incredulous at the sudden turn of events. "Lorenzo, you've been in Las Vegas for only a day!"
"I'll explain it all when I get back home. Business isn't done yet," Lorenzo said, his tone leaving no room for argument. Then he hung up, the dial tone buzzing in Adam's ear like a swarm of angry bees.
Hanging up the phone, a smirk crept onto Lorenzo's hidden features. His thoughts shifted to the McAfee men he'd sent out for information on the Roth Syndicate, the McAfees' main rivals in Las Vegas, and the elusive Benjamin Siegel, who'd managed to slip through his fingers back in Los Angeles. There was a possibility the man had fled to Las Vegas, and Lorenzo intended to find him.
As he mused, an interface of sorts flickered to life before him, displaying his system status. Among the array of statistics and skills, one new addition: {Upside Down}.
Thanks to his [Mystery Reward], he received the skill {Upside Down}, the world was now his oyster.
The {Upside Down} granted Lorenzo access to a realm of shadows and whispers, a dark reflection of the world he knew.
Essentially, {Upside Down} allowed Lorenzo to venture into the shadow world – a dark, empty mirror of the real world where he could manipulate the real world to a degree and eavesdrop on conversations in the immediate vicinity. Here, he could move much faster than in the real world, making it seem as if he teleported to another location when he reappeared.
However, at its current level (1), the skill had its limits: it could only be used for ten minutes, and it couldn't take any humans or objects with him. In the future, as the skill leveled up, it would grant him the ability to bring others into the shadow world with him.
For now, Lorenzo would have to make do with using it for reconnaissance and quick getaways. A grin curled his lips. It would do for now.
As Lorenzo contemplated his next move, Harris, a dutiful factotum, approach him with urgency, "Boss, we found out where this Benjamin character might be."
"Oh?" Lorenzo raised an eyebrow, fingers steepled in pseudo-prayer under his chin.
"He's been spotted in Roth Syndicate's territory," Harris said, no hint of emotion in his voice.
Lorenzo's masked face didn't betray his thoughts, but his eyes narrowed ever so slightly. "Roth, huh?" It explained a lot, but not enough.
"Prepare the car," he ordered, standing up from his newfound throne.
"Y-yes, boss!" Harris hustled off to obey, and moments later, the sleek, black town car purred to life outside.
Lorenzo slid into the backseat, sinking into the plush leather as Mike closed the door behind him. "The Roth residence," he said succinctly, and Mike nodded, familiar with his boss terse manner.
As they neared the ostentatious Roth mansion, Lorenzo tapped Mike's shoulder. "Pull over here."
Mike complied, and the car purred to a stop, blending in with the other luxury vehicles lining the street.
Lorenzo eyed the Roth mansion in the distance, a frown drawing his brows together. In his previous life, the Roth Syndicate had been based in Miami. This world, however, was different.
He turned to Mike. "Close your eyes for a moment."
Mike's expression was skeptical, but he complied. As soon as his eyelids shut, Lorenzo's form flickered, and he vanished from the car.
'Upside Down', Lorenzo thought, and in an instant, he was transported to the shadowy realm where he could travel unhindered.
Meanwhile, Mike blinked, certain he'd only closed his eyes for a moment. "What the—" He whipped around, but the backseat was empty. "How in the—"
Shrugging it off as yet another mystery he'd never understand about his boss, Mike leaned back in his seat, deciding to wait it out.
Meanwhile, Lorenzo traveled through the shadowy world like a phantom. He reached the Roth house and, without a sound, entered it. Faint voices guided him to a certain room.
Lorenzo entered the room, materializing on the other side of the door. The voices became louder.
"This 'Wolf Familia' is really pushing their luck... They're already doing well in Los Angeles, but to think they'd expand here is downright audacious," a middle-aged man growled.
"But we gotta admit, 'Wolf Familia' is no joke if they managed to infiltrate the McAfee and absorb it," a second voice reasoned.
"Greene is right, Mr. Roth. It seems we don't have much information on this 'Wolf Familia' to proceed with our counterattack," a third man chimed in.
"So… are you gonna let them off, Benjamin? After what they did to your lapdog, Mickey Cohen?" The middle-aged voice, presumably Hyman Roth's, prodded.
Lorenzo recognized the names. Hyman Roth, Moe Greene, and Benjamin Siegel.
As the conversation in the mansion room wound down, Lorenzo emerged from the shadows, the sunlight casting his sinister silhouette against the stained-glass window. His eyes, hidden under his mask, narrowed. "Hyman Roth, Moe Greene, and Benjamin Siegel, all in one place," he thought to himself. "Finally, I've got you, Benjamin..."
With his target's identities now known, Lorenzo backed away from the mansion, blending seamlessly into the darkness. He had heard enough for one night. The Green Mask had work to do.
Disabling his [Upside Down] skill, Lorenzo materialized back into the real world. He slid into the backseat of the waiting car, the door closing silently behind him. "Mike, we're done here."
Mike started the car and pulled away from the mansion's entrance. "Yes, Boss."
The Rolls-Royce Phantom glided into the Las Vegas, leaving only the faintest trail of exhaust in its wake.
After a while, Lorenzo returned to the McAfee mansion. An hour later, he welcomed his men from Los Angeles. They were lower-ranking members of his "Wolf Familia," wearing wolf masks. These men would represent Lorenzo's gang at the McAfee Syndicate after he left.
Lorenzo wasted no time. He gathered the men in the courtyard and introduced his wolf-masked entourage. "Listen up, boys," he commanded, "These men here will be keeping an eye on you while I'm away in Las Vegas." The McAfee men exchanged uneasy glances, but didn't dare to defy their new boss.
Nodding in approval, Lorenzo turned to William, the leader of his wolf-masked entourage. "This is Harris, my right-hand man. He'll be in charge while I'm in Las Vegas. You and your guys keep an eye on them, alright?"
William nodded, his golden eyes glinting behind the mask. "We won't disappoint you, boss."
"Good," Lorenzo said, "The McAfee name still stands for now. We'll make changes when the time is right." He knew he couldn't rush things; the transition from the McAfee Syndicate to the Wolf Familia needed to be gradual, especially with the affiliated gangs and businesses involved.
With a final nod, he left the mansion with Mike, his footsteps echoing on the marble floor as he made his way back to Los Angeles. Behind him, William and his men observed, their presence known but undefined, blending into the background yet always watching. The takeover of the McAfee Syndicate was complete, and the stage was set for the rise of the Wolf Familia in Las Vegas.
