King of Games C11 Purple Nails Acquired
Added 2024-04-24 13:09:00 +0000 UTCOn Jirokichi's estate, Jirokichi, Nakamori, Detective Kogorou, Conan, Sonoko, and Ran were inside, discussing the infamous Kaito Kid. Conan brought up the GPS tracker that had been attached to the card Kaito Kid left behind, and Jirokichi finally understood why the GPS signal had been so chaotic when they tried to track him down in the center of Giza. They then delved into a conversation about how Kaito Kid could have teleported, and Mouri hypothesized that it must have something to do with an elevator in the building.
However, Jirokichi refuted this idea, stating that he had rented all the buildings in the area. Both Kogorou and Nakamori were taken aback by this revelation. Conan then proposed that the Kaito Kid they saw on the rooftop must have been an accomplice, a decoy to create the illusion of teleportation. Both Nakamori and Kogorou agreed with this theory.
Shinro, who had been silent until now, interjected, "No, I don't think the person on the roof was Kaito Kid's accomplice."
Nakamori, Kogorou, and Conan frowned, having not realized he was even there.
"Who are you, kid?" Nakamori asked, genuinely confused. "Why are you butting into this conversation?"
Shinro blushed, feeling slightly hurt that he had been so easily overlooked, even by the young Conan.
Sonoko stepped in, "Hey! He's my big brother, you know!"
Nakamori blushed, "Oh, I apologize. I didn't realize."
Kogorou, intrigued by Shinro's input, asked, "Shinro-san, how can you be so sure that the Kaito Kid on the rooftop wasn't just an accomplice disguised as him?"
may seem impossible for Kaito Kid to miraculously appear on the roof from the ground, I believe it's within his abilities, given his athleticism and the tricks he has up his sleeves." He continued, "In fact, my uncle's men can vouch for the fact that the person on the rooftop was indeed Kaito Kid himself."
Jirokichi nodded in agreement. "Enter."
One of Jirokichi's subordinates entered the room and began to explain how he had smeared ketchup on Kaito Kid's white cape during the commotion. Everyone looked at each other, confused, until Jirokichi played the video footage of Kaito Kid on the TV. Sure enough, as the illusionist's cape billowed in the wind, they could see a handprint stained with ketchup on it.
Jirokichi was the first to speak, "At first, I didn't believe Shinro when he said it wasn't Kaito Kid's accomplice on the rooftop, but after hearing my subordinate's statement and seeing the evidence, it's clear that Kaito Kid really did go from the ground to the rooftop in just 20 seconds!"
Everyone except Shinro gasped in disbelief.
Shinro smirked, "Honestly, the trick he pulled off was quite simple."
Nakamori scoffed, "How can you say that? He practically teleported!"
Jirokichi looked at his nephew, "Care to enlighten us?"
Even Conan and Kogorou were intrigued, wondering how Shinro could have figured it out so quickly.
Shinro chuckled, "The trick he used was actually quite simple. You all could have thought of it if you had just analyzed it more deeply, hahaha!"
Hearing this, everyone except Sonoko thought Shinro was bragging and didn't actually know the trick.
Nakamori couldn't help but blurt out, "If you don't know it, don't pretend you do!"
Even Conan doubted him, smirking to himself.
Jirokichi was also disappointed.
However, Shinro knew the truth. He couldn't tell them the secret even if he wanted to. After all, if they managed to catch Kaito Kid, which he doubted given the thief's notorious luck and plot armour, Shinro wouldn't be able to claim the treasure that Kaito Kid might have left behind.
---
Another day passed, and the Ginza plaza was bustling with activity once more, except for the tall netting that still cordoned off the area where the treasure was displayed. The only people present were the guards stationed around the stand. Kaito Kid realized there wasn't enough of a crowd to perform for, so he shot something from his handgun. A mini parachute carrying a card with his logo on it landed in front of the stand, along with a pre-recorded message apologizing for not being able to perform due to the lack of an audience.
The people demanded entry, and despite Nakamori's protests, they forced their way through the barricades. Jirokichi sighed and decided to let them in.
While Conan was still deep in thought about how Kaito Kid could have teleported from the ground to the rooftop, he felt a gun pressed against his head.
Kaito Kid's voice sounded in his ear, "I know you're wondering how I did it, Detective-san."
Conan was taken aback, both by the sudden appearance of Kaito Kid and the fact that he was being threatened. Kaito Kid continued, Do you know Thurston's three rules?"
Conan was taken aback, but he knew the rules well. Kaito Kid recited them aloud, emphasizing the one that states, "Never repeat the same trick twice." He then dared Conan to catch him if he could pull off the same stunt again.
Before Conan could react, Kaito Kid vanished into thin air.
Conan turned around, but the illusionist was nowhere to be found. Shaking it off, he joined Ran, Sonoko, and Kogorou to discuss how Kaito Kid might have pulled off the teleportation trick.
Time passed, and as the sun set, the crowd cheered as Kaito Kid appeared in the sky with his hang glider. He landed on the stand where the treasure was displayed and confidently held up the high heel shoe embedded with the "Purple Nails" gemstone.
Meanwhile, Conan, having figured out Kaito Kid's trick, rushed to the rooftop of the building where he knew the thief would reappear. However, to his surprise, Shinro, Sonoko's older brother, was already there. It seemed Shinro had deduced Kaito Kid's teleportation spot as well.
Conan's eyes widened in disbelief. "He knew?"
He was both impressed and disappointed that someone else had cracked the illusion before him. Then it dawned on him that Shinro had bragged about knowing the trick yesterday.
Seeing this, Conan frowned before putting on a childish facade and approached Shinro. "Shinro-oniisan?"
Shinro turned to Conan, not surprised to see him there. "Kid, what are you doing here?"
"Oh, I was just curious and wanted to see Kaito Kid's performance up close," Conan said with a cute smile, but Shinro wasn't fooled. He knew the kid in front of him was the famous detective, Shinichi Kudo.
"Well, be careful not to fall," Shinro warned, looking back at Kaito Kid below.
Then, Kaito Kid vanished in a puff of smoke, just as he had done before. However, Shinro spotted a figure in black robes running through the crowd. He couldn't believe no one else noticed it.
Kaito Kid then shot three cards from his handgun, each with the words "THREE" and "TWO" written on them. The crowd's attention was diverted by the cards, while Kaito Kid used the distraction to shoot himself upwards with a strong, thin string attached to the building. As he neared the top, he shot the final card, "ONE", into the crowd below.
Kaito Kid laughed, oblivious to the fact that Shinro was waiting for him on the rooftop.
Shinro whispered to Conan, "Be quiet. We'll wait for the right moment to strike, alright?"
Conan nodded, impressed by Shinro's plan.
As soon as Kaito Kid set foot on the edge of the rooftop, a hand grabbed his wrist.
"Eh?" Kaito Kid turned around, confused. He saw a good-looking young man smirking at him.
"Kaito Kid-san, I presume?" Shinro said, revealing a pair of handcuffs. "You're under arrest."
Shinro cuffed Kaito Kid's wrists, leaving the thief dumbfounded. Kaito Kid stared at Shinro, then at Conan, who was standing behind him, in disbelief.
Kaito Kid didn't let panic take over him. He removed his black robe, revealing his signature white suit and cape, which billowed in the wind. The crowd below cheered, thinking it was part of the act. The journalists and cameraman on the rooftop were also distracted, only realizing too late that Shinro had already cuffed one of Kaito Kid's wrists.
"Eh! Kaito Kid got caught!?" they exclaimed.
Nakamori, the police, and even Jirokichi were thrilled by this development.
Shinro could hear Jirokichi's voice through his earpiece, "Don't let him go, Shinro!"
Shinro smirked at Kaito Kid. "You're quite good. You used the pulley trick, just like the one with the well, didn't you?"
Hearing this, Kaito Kid was quite shocked, but Shinro smirked and said, "With the help of your accomplice beneath the banner, and probably some weights to help you lift up like an ancient elevator."
Kaito Kid smirked back and admitted, "Well, well. It's not every day that someone other than a certain detective would notice this trick." He glanced at Conan, who remained silent.
"But you didn't catch me." Kaito Kid revealed as it turned out a fake hand had been handcuffed instead. Wasting no more time, he flew down and took his accomplice by the hand, flying off into the sky.
"Well, he got away." Shinro wasn't surprised.
Conan felt disappointed, but then noticed a pair of high heels with "Purple Nails" and a Kaito Kid note, "He left the treasure!" Conan exclaimed.
Shinro also noticed the high heels and took them, smiling.
Jirokichi, Nakamori, Kogorou, Ran, and Sonoko, along with Jirokichi's men appeared on the rooftop, but Kaito Kid was nowhere to be seen.
"Where's Kid!?" Jirokichi demanded of Shinro, looking around frantically.
Shinro just smiled and said, "He got away, but he left the treasure." He presented the high heels embedded with the glittering gem to his uncle.
Jirokichi sighed in disappointment that Kaito Kid had escaped, but he was still satisfied that the treasure was recovered. He thought Kaito Kid must have been pressured and had no choice but to leave the treasure, and the note was just an excuse.
Meanwhile, the reporter and cameraman started interviewing Shinro, but Jirokichi quickly stole the limelight, boasting in front of the camera. He was particularly proud since Kaito Kid had left empty-handed.
After a while, Shinro pulled his uncle aside and asked, "So, the treasure 'Purple Nail' is mine now, right? As we agreed?"
Hearing this, Jirokichi massaged his forehead and sighed, "Take it."
Shinro smiled, while Nakamori, Kogorou, Ran, and especially Sonoko were surprised to hear that Jirokichi would give away the treasure.
Sonoko then asked, "Shinro-oniichan, are you coming home?"
Shinro shook his head, "No." He simply said, "Just greet mom and dad for me, bye." Then he left without waiting for Sonoko to respond.
"Darn it." Sonoko muttered under her breath, visibly annoyed…
