Recently I've been doing better about getting a lot done and being focused on each task each day. A major cause of this is the amount of sleep I've been getting. I'm still waking up in the night but I've been doing what I can to still get more sleep before having to go off to class, etc. It's been a dramatic change. I still remember what it's like to be dragging energy-wise all day and work through so much brain fog and try to complete studies with said brain fog but now, I'm doing much better. MAN, does sleep make all the difference.
I'm a chronically sleep-deprived woman so the effects are even more dramatic. I'm even more able to naturally express my joy outwardly during my days. :)
Anyhow... Earlier on in the week, during one of these long nights spent on assignments, I found myself getting more tired, and eventually decided to turn up the speed on my walking pad. I have never really done this as I only started using this walking pad a couple weeks ago (just in case you've never heard of a walking pad, it's essentially a treadmill for under your desk so you can move while you work!), but I figured the walking wasn't cutting it--
AND THEN--
This motion of cranking up the speed on the treadmill brought back to mind recollections of training for kpop artists. I'd seen it through media and interviews and shows, and I heard about it again during the breakdown my coach gave me at a time when I was being considered for a professional program that trains artists for the kpop industry ("Lav, what?!" I'm thinking the same thing. It came almost as fast as it went, I passed it up, mainly cuz it was a lot of money x-x) It is not unheard of for artists in the industry to practice singing and belting vocals while running, exercising, and dancing.
So long story short, I got the bright idea to start incorporating yet another practice into my roster of exercises for vocal training. I thought it would be better to do this regularly rather than just every now and then as a warm-up as it would help me prepare for the future Lav who is able to plan 3D concerts and such, which may entail singing and dancing simultaneously.
Anyhow, I'm going to share a bit of what this sounds like with you now and then! It might be funny to hear what it sounds like when I really crank the speed up, but I'm not there yet, haha!

It sounds like your fight against insomnia's getting better. That's great! Your VA treadmill idea sounds like a good way to practice vocal and breath control too.

2025-03-07 05:51:44 +0000 UTC'tis a future I want to come sooner!!! x) agreed, exerting oneself physically really helps take the body down a few pegs even when it doesn't want to sleep, which is a nice default method if that works out. :)

2025-03-06 02:56:33 +0000 UTCAs someone who's battled insomnia for years, it's amazing how much physical exertion can help with both that and mental exhaustion. Your videos also help sometimes ;). Glad to hear you're taking care of yourself. P.S. Dancing Lav? Such lovely visions of the future you tease us with.
