There are some images that are so awe-inspiring that they took on a life of their own, that became entangled so deep within our minds that they fundamentally transformed who we are, and altered the course of our history.

Being Gen X, it seems as a young person, we were overwhelmed with films regarding Nuclear events. "On the Beach" by Nevil Shute was required reading in literature courses in childhood, which was horrific at any age, much less 8-10 years old. I recall watching "Fail Safe" very young and not being able to sleep for months. "Testament" i watched in Jr High School and it still comes to mind as a haunting depiction of not the event, but the inevitable suffering to follow. Quite a contrast to the recent "FallOut" series, that I do admit, i rather enjoy. We have become very desensitized to the struggles of our planet, as you note, the constant frenetic content that is constantly at our fingertips. My heart breaks for my grandkids and generations to come. Outstanding, as usual, Tom.

“Don’t Look Up” by Adam McKay is a great movie that imagines how our current culture would handle an apocalypse. Also provides what other disasters movies don’t; which is comfort.
