Hey everyone!
To celebrate its 4th anniversary, Fanbox has invited its creators to share a bit about themselves by answering five questions. So here's me being the interviewee!
1.What are the works you're most proud of?
As for most creators, that would be my original works of course, so The Penny Diary, The Flower Children and the strange charms of the prehistoric girls from Indecent Descent. I'm glad to have made weird tributes to the works I like through my NSFW fan art, but my originals is where I get to do a tiny bit of worldbuilding of my own.
2. How did you come to start creating stuff?
I've been drawing for as long as I can remember. In fact, we all drew as children at some point, so in a certain sense the question should be what made us stop. Perhaps artists are really victims of a form of arrested development? As for naughty stuff, I started drawing that when I was about 12 years old, and it's still remarkably similar to what I do now. So yeah, definitely arrested development.
3. Share a memorable happy event in your life as a creator.
For me, that's always when other artists reach out to me, be it people whose work I first saw when I went online sending me a message that they like my stuff, or younger artists telling me they were influenced by me. Some of them sent me their interpretations of my characters, and getting actual fan art of your own creations, that's a feeling that can't be described!
Also, people telling me they started watching some old show because I made some fan art of it, is always a thrill.
4. Is there something you want to try on Fanbox?
There's always ideas, but I'm not the world greatest planner, so I just try to be consistent in what I do. I must say that when I first started Fanbox, I had no great ambitions except making some extra money in order to free up time to draw. I had no notion of ever making a carreer out of it. At this point I have to admit that, although it's still quite some way off, the idea of doing this fulltime at some point is no longer an unattainable dream. Let's keep pushing for it!
5. Give a message for your future fans.
Hi there! Hope you're doing ok in this crazy world? If you like, give me a try some time and you may find something unusual you might like. I'm afraid I'm not the multiplex theater keeping you up to date with the latest cinematic universe blockbusters. I'm more like that small indie place that does occasional reruns of Howard The Duck and Princess Mononoke in between horror films most people have never heard of. It's going to be a bit rough around the edges, but you may have a couple of unexpectedly pleasant experiences.
