Patreon x Spotify

Exciting news!

As of today, you can stream all patron-exclusive content on Spotify.

It's organized as a podcast, with each track as a separate episode.

All you have to do is go to the podcast on Spotify and click the lock icon on any of the episodes. 🔒

It should prompt you to authorize the connection to Patreon.

It didn't for me though! I had to go to the Connect Apps page on the Patreon website (desktop only) and flip the Spotify switch.

Here are Patreon's official instructions.

Let me know what you think! Is this something you'll use? Putting on my marketer hat, does it add value to your membership?

While I'm asking for opinions...

Amanda Mizer recently requested “a poster like you'd get at a concert” so I came up with this:

At 18" x 24" it'll cost $13 to produce a high-quality matte print, so I'd probably charge $20.

Would that interest you? Would you prefer a smaller size for a lower price?

You'll notice the type matches the “Eastern Vacation” cover art. I'm thinking of using it as a logo of sorts going forward.

Decisions, decisions! 🤔

Brian.

Patreon Vol. 12

Another six months snuck by while no one was looking! 🫥

Seriously, where does the time go?

Here we are, six years into our Patreon journey. Many of you have been here that entire time!

Whether you just signed up or you've been with me since day one, I'm beyond grateful. This is my primary source of income as an artist and the only one I can count on every month.

Without further ado, here's the CD tracklist:

1. She’s Made of Wires
2. Ghosts Again
3. Death of You
4. If You Want Me To
5. The Darkroom
6. The Sound
7. I’ve Seen You in a Dream (Extended Mix)
8. Wrath (Matt Mancid Remix)
9. She’s Made of Wires (Joni Panda Remix)
10. The Darkroom (Joni Panda Remix)
11. Crystal (Sector 31 Remix)
12. The Girl (Color Theory Remix)

As you know by now, I'm always updating my mixes. The linked tracks above have been updated since I originally posted them. I just updated “Ghosts Again” ten minutes ago! (on Bandcamp too)

I'll ship out CDs to all $6+ patrons as soon as I get my test copy back from Kunaki.

Please make sure your address is current, or if you don't want me to send you a CD, let me know! Alternatively, if you'd like to upgrade to receive CDs, you can do all of that and more here.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately! I'm just wrapping up a project that I hope to be able to tell you about soon.

With any luck, I'll be able to write the second entry of my Album 14 journal tonight. 🤞🏻

It must be Halloween 🎃

Just wanted to write a quick note to wish you all a Happy Halloween! I'll be tending the front door in my jammies, thank you.

Since I've managed to catch up a bit on my monthly content calendar, I'm trying to put together five verse-chorus ideas before completing November's patron release.

Ideally, those five ideas will evolve into completed tracks to give me 14 contenders for the next album. I'll likely pare that down to 11 or 12 tracks, or even 10 if I want to leave the door open for vinyl again.

I'll soon be sharing a remix with you that's scheduled for January 6 release. I'm messing around with cover art ideas, two of which are above.

I think the first one (girl looking to the side) is best, or at least the closest to what the artist is looking for. The only concern is that people might think the subject of the photo is the artist, and not just “the girl” that the song is about.

I volunteered to put together some cover art ideas as practice. I've finally gotten around to learning a little Photoshop! The third image above was cleaned up and upscaled from this:

I think the AI thought the lines and flaming embers, or whatever those are, added to the atmosphere.

I'm confident I could do a much better job on the “Wrath” cover now, but oh well. It'll be out on Friday!

What's your favorite Halloween candy? Mine's Swedish Fish, though I'll go ahead and vow right now not to eat any!

Patreon Vol. 11

It's that time again!

This is the 11th patron-exclusive CD, which means that I've been on Patreon for five and a half years = 66 new songs.

Whether you just signed up or you've been with me since day one, I really appreciate it! Your support is, honest to goodness, the foundation of my entire career.

Mike and Kevin both gave me permission to include their tracks, so we've got an especially strong volume this time around.

I daresay it's the best yet! (previous tracklists are here)

1. Crystal
2. Trick of the Light
3. Wrath
4. The Serious One
5. Just an Echo
6. The Same
7. We’re Not Through
8. The Year That Was Tomorrow
9. The Future You is Forever (UAP Remix)
10. Cakewalk (MAIN Remix)
11. The Serious One (UAP Remix)
12. The Darkness (Joni Panda Remix)

In preparing the CD, I made some changes to the following tracks, and updated them on Patreon in case you'd like to re-download them: The Same (yes, again!), The Serious One, We're Not Through, and The Darkness (which isn't on the CD but will be officially released on 10/7).

I'll ship out CDs to all $6+ patrons as soon as I get my test copy back from Kunaki.

I've been a little quiet this month, keeping my nose to the grindstone. I worked through weekends and postponed music promotion posts and even client work.

I've done everything I can to catch up on my monthly content calendar, but here I am again on the 19th without a trace of a new song or podcast. 😭

Granted, I did wrap up my part for a duet that could very well be next month's song.

Of course I'm not working 24/7. We moved my son into his new place at college, and my daughter's tennis team is in-season, so I'm catching some of her matches.

And there's always stuff with my Dad. I had to re-apply for health benefits, and I managed to get him free internet through a government program. Looks like I can get him free cellular too, but that promises to be an ordeal. It can hold for a couple more weeks!

Alright, back to work Brian! 😏

I'll have a new extended mix for you in the next day or two, and a new original shortly thereafter.

Brian.
