WIP: Yes, it's still this one
Added 2024-03-14 11:07:42 +0000 UTC
Good morning! Weekly update time, and...yes, still working on this one. I'm pretty sure this is the one that I've worked on the most, and it's still not done! I really want it to be the best possible. It's like all my delusional wishful thinking materialized in a trailer.
That timeline from last week wasn't trustworthy, but the video got shorter, so yay! Not because I necessarily wanted to have less work, but I want it all to be synced with the music. Now that I defined that part, it flowed better with ~30 seconds less. Sometimes less is more.

The highlighted parts are the ones still missing/what I'm working on right now. Then it's technically done...but there are many things I want to change! Instead of stopping to fix them now, I decided to finish it all first, and then use the time left to prioritize the most important things. If I stop to fix everything before finishing the video, I might never finish it.
One of the things is that I just noticed YESTERDAY, after weeks of rigging and animating Estinien...

...is that I build the wrong face. T_T
Apparently, his face was changed after HW, and I followed the instructions for the old one. I didn't even notice something was wrong. I guess I'm just not that used to Elezen faces. The difference for me is very subtle, but when they're side by side, it's...still very subtle, but it's there. Maybe Estinien fans would be able to tell.
When I tried to fix it yesterday, thinking it was a matter of just replacing the head, it didn't go as planned and the weight painting wouldn't transfer no matter what. After an hour of trying to test things and failing, I decided it's better to just keep going and figure it out if I have the time. There is a part on the video with casual, inn scene outfit Estinien, and one with armor-Estinien. The armor one has the correct face.
If I don't change it for the final video, you will be the only ones to know. :P

There's also some sound effects I want to improve on, fixing minor animation things, a few effects I want to change, things I have to fix on the rigs/models - for example, there's some weird stuff happening on Alphy's hair above his ear. His hair was all weird to begin it. Lots of faces clipping for some reason...I fixed the most obvious one while animating it, but I only noticed that one after rendering it. I'm pretty satisfied with the movement though!
Also I really need to watch some tutorials on audio balancing, just to be sure it's not too loud or too quiet. I don't know if I'm doing it all, but it's all things I'm aware of.

Othen than that, even if it's taking very long, most of it is going smoothly. This week I also finished MY FAVORITE G'RAHA ANIMATION YET!!! I'm really happy with it. I can't stop replaying~ (but maybe I should before I start seeing mistakes and end up disliking it!)
I mentioned it briefly in the first WIP post about this project. It's based on an artwork I really loved!
Now I have to pause working on it for a bit to work on my sunday post. I really want to make something about the layout phase, and go over the process of how I think of the idea, planning it and starting the project in a more organized way. I realized how important it is for me to have it more defined after this struggling a bit with this one. I hope I'm able to finish it by sunday, and I'll do my best to add helpful information in it for everyone!
That's it for now. As always, thank you very much for your support!

Glad to know I'm not the only one! I don't really notice Elezens that much...but maybe Elezen enthusiasts would be able to tell? :P his eyebrows and eye shape are slightly different. Thank you very much!!!
