The Juno Set - WIP Post 💅

Hello my very fabulous and stunning friends! 

I'm so excited to get to share with you a little work in progress peek at this upcoming collab Alex and I did with Juno Birch!!

Juno is not only a talented performer but also loves to play the Sims. Her sims videos are absolutely hilarious and definitely worth checking out if you haven't already!

Her drag is very fun and her whole persona is very "Alien trying to pass as a Normal 1950s Housewife" and I've been thoroughly obsessed ever since I found her through her channel.

I reached out to her last summer and asked if she would ever want to make some CC based around her art and drag and she got back to me at the beginning of this year! Yes, this is happening!!

THE SET:

So I'm working with my Collab Partner Ice-CreamforBreakfast on this set, we previously have done the Poppy set as well as My Wedding Trauma together.

For this set Juno sent us some collages of potential Build Buy and CAS items she'd like to see in her game. Alex and I split everything up, taking a little bit of both as well as coming up with additional fun ideas to add to the eye strain hotdog fantasy.

So far I've knocked out a fair bit of Build Buy, with a few more new projects on the List still. I want to recreate at least one of Juno's sculptures in game and that's probably what I'll be up to this weekend!

But let's look at some of the objects we've got going so far!

 The Hotdog Couch!

One of the items Juno was really excited about was a hot dog couch! Hot dogs are on her list of iconic things, and I'm not sure I ever thought I would be sculpting a large hot dog for sims to lounge on.

One of the challenges of a lot of the furniture in this set is it's very r o u n d.

And one of the fun things that happens with the way S4S/the game treats build buy objects, is that it will automatically create a sharp edge at the borders of your UV shells.

So that means if you want something to be perfectly smooth with no sharp bits, all those UVs have to be connected and seamless. Which presents some rather tough UVing.

I needed the detail on the ends of the hotdog to be crisp and clean, but I also needed it to be smooth. So it ended up being UVed looking a bit like a TRON lightcycle. I was able to tuck the sharp seam at the very back where you'd probably never look for it.

 More Things!

I wanted this set to feel very wild but also cohesive- if that makes sense?

There's a ton of colors and patterns at play but at it's heart its a living room set, with some objects for pets. So I asked what would I want to make to expand on this?

I originally sketched out the idea for a glowing gelatin lamp, similar to the ones you see on instagram by talented resin artists, but I wanted to throw a twist into it by suspending a lightbulb in the middle, like it had gotten fully stuck inside.

And then I had the idea at 3am to supersize it and turn it into a large campy side table that glows! It's still in progress, but right now I have three versions: Chunks, shrimp, and legally distinct Spagetti-os.

The UFO art is 3D and I wanted it to look like painted clay! I had a lot of fun matching Juno's highlights and painting style for this set.

And the pet food feeder is something I've personally wanted for a while now!! I paired it with the aspiration rewards pet bowl from TS2 and it cracks me up I love it so much!

MAKING A DRAG WIG:

One of the things Juno was very excited and passionate about for this set was making more large hairs for her sim to wear about!

Alex took on most of the CAS, and you should absolutely go see what she's up to on her patreon if you get the chance! On my end, I took on the Attack of the Stunning Space Suit and the Mars Attacks Hair.

One of the things I wanted to get better at this year was properly making hair. I'm not quite sure how that's going or still what "properly" even looks like but I do like how this hair came out!

In the future I want to challenge myself and see if I can make some proper vintage pincurls, but that's another journey for another day.

I'll hop back onto smaller projects after, it's been three large sets back to back and I'm a little beat, but I'd like to jump back in with some fallout in May! So look out for that!
