Moving Forward - End of 2024 Plans

Hello! 👋

I wanted to start this off by and foremost saying thank you so much for the support on the recent Poppy set release. I haven’t seen the community having that much fun with CC in a while and it really means the world to me.  🧡

I’ll try to keep this short and to the point. It’s not bad news, just different.

I've been unemployed for over a year now. August 2023 I finished off my last gig in Animation, and the industry has since taken a giant dive into the toilet. Greenlights are very rare and jobs are even rarer. Boo hoo so sad but what does that mean for CC?

Last year I put together a massive game of Clue for Simblreen. I didn’t sleep for 48 hours straight. For Shrimpmas the story was very similar but somehow even worse. And just to put it into optics, I recently spent 3 weeks making the Poppy CAS set. Hours and hours dedicated to getting the meshes and the swatches perfect- and after all the love, all the fantastic amazing lookbooks- I made $7. (And I’m very grateful to those new patrons, and everyone that took the time to play with it, believe me I am! I just want you to understand the kind of numbers we’re working with here.) I don't make a lot of money doing this, I really don't.

TLDR; This has been a very roundabout way to say I’m going to be scaling back this year.

For the rest of the year, I'm going to commit to making things that make me happy, and take a break from things I stress over for absolutely no reason.

Simblreen will still be happening, but only for the second weekend, and I’m going to be cutting a lot of stuff I was making for it. Because when I sat down and thought about it, I wasn't making it because I wanted to, I was making it because I felt I had to.

In the same vein, as of right now, Shrimpmas is cancelled this year. I’m really sorry about this one. I know it’s a ton of fun, but instead I’ll be focusing on finishing up two large sets and getting them to you in November and December.

I hate going on about this stuff, but I wanted to be clear where I’m at as a creator.
Thank you for reading, and I’ll see you soon. 💗

I Totally understand.. It takes a lot of work I am sure to do all that! You take care of your needs first and do what brings you joy is most important! If you don't you will get stressed out and burned out and we don't want that! God Bless You! 🥰🎄🙏

Taking the time to focus in on what brings you joy is what's most important.

Your Stuff Is Amazing! It's Creative and Just what makes me Love to Make my Sims because they become the unique creations and individuals and personalities that make them who they are. I wish that I could shell out Thousands and Thousands of Dollars to All of you CC creators because YOU ALL are what keep me playing this Game. Love and Hugs to you. You take care of you Always :) ♥♥

And this is why I understand and support paywalls.

How Erica Blooms

You've gotta do what you can in this economy, no need to feel bad for scaling anything back! I love your work, and will always be happy with whatever you give us

Neen

Your health and happiness are what matters most. Your creations are a gift that we are grateful for, not an obligation. Take care!

Video Games I feel is even worse off. It's been such a terrible couple of years for creative industries.

I completely understand! I was unemployed a couple of years back. I hope you find some work soon! I had to retrain in a different area and am really loving what I do now, even though it is still only a part-time position. Please take good care of yourself mentally and physically. We are so lucky to have you in this community. ❤️

Marisa (gfvsims)

sending love, mental health should always be a priority.

Your health and well being are the most important thing. I look forward to your creativity but things like not sleeping, not taking care of yourself aren't worth it. My wish is for you to land softly on the employment side, I know too many people in that boat at the moment (I had a several friends caught in the Blizzard/Activision scourge, and several at small studios). <3

Shadowkeeper

♥️♥️♥️ The unemployment raft is not fun. I hope we find land soon!

As someone who's also been dealing with unemployment (for the whole household lately... I know, blah blah, sob story 😆) I absolutely understand. It's not a thing that brings in a lot (or any) money unless you're doing unethical things which, honestly, is really sad. I dressed my Sims up in some permapaywalled CC I got from the vault shortly after your lovely Poppy set and the difference in quality was painfully obvious (yours was 100x nicer in case that's not clear lmao). Making CC needs to remain a hobby that we do because we want to, not because we feel like we have to, and especially not if it's starting to feel like an unpaid job. I fully support doing things because they're fun, and not doing things that aren't! Much love for you and your skill and generosity! ❤️

Anne, as someone who's also been hit hard by unemployment this past year (since April 2023) I absolutely support your decision. Make what you want because, usually, we all want it! We just didn't know we did until *you* made it. You are one of the very few CC makers that I consider worth whatever extra I have to share. P.S. I know Shrimpmas is cancelled... sad but I get it. Also, I have so much love for my Shrimpy goodness that I can be content with what we had last year.

Jayne Fury

Love you and your quirky humor whatever CC thingies in whatever schedule you decide to do! <3

Sim Siili

I'm just grateful for anything you choose to share with us, and would never want you to sacrifice your health in order to bring us your beautiful creations. You are such a light and a breath of fresh air in this community. Please prioritize yourself. ♡ We're lucky and grateful for your mere existence in the sims space.

Ceeplays

Anne, thank you for the transparency! Everything you make is so clearly full of love and passion and (to me) you are the absolute treasure of the simming community ❤️❤️ do whatever you need to do to be happy and healthy!! :)

peachxcube

You are more important than your work, Anne. If I could afford to, I would pay subscriptions to every cc and mod creator in this community who throws so much of themselves into their work and so generously gives us so much content for free. I wish you immense luck with job hunting, and I hope you have a very happy rest of the year.

Awanthi Vardaraj

You do what you need to. Seriously. I can't speak for anyone else but I want you to be happy much more than I want any of the lovely cc you make.

Andie

Anne, you are one of the most amazing creators, please, please do what makes you happy ❤️

Irene

Do what makes you happy Anne!!! We only want you to be happy and comfortable. ❤😭
