Thank you all for your patience - This month's set is here, with an abundance of chili sauce! One of the things I wanted to do was to explore the "cinema/theater" type location, and it proved surprisingly difficult to get locked down.

If you saw the WIP and sketches from earlier in the month, things definitely are looking quite different in the finished product! 3/4 portraits and full body shots, as they've proven many times before, are really powerful tools in helping convey both character and setting. Wider establishing shots can be good as well, but you really need a very strong composition/subject for those to be effective.

Hence, my final selection of shots and angles ended up quite simple, but I tried my best to make them as much as possible an "expansion" to the character and world.

As always, I love to hear your thoughts below, and feel free to ask any questions as well! Thank you all so much for your kind support :)

Ooh I understand, it's so helpful how you tie what you want to convey with what you're going to do. Thank you:)

Júlia

Aw thats okay! Still looks amazing

That would be awesome. Perhaps a younger associate who prefers trendy streetwear?

David Pevear

Both are equally fun to draw!

Good question! The short haired character was just an initial prototype design to be honest - but I felt given her design (standard officewear-like), it was a bit too much overlap with Irena. Hence with a bit of redesign we have a visually distinct Yin now :) I'm still partial to the short hair look though, so perhaps it's high time to start thinking about and designing a new character!

The poor staff coming in the next morning... Thank you for sharing your faves! I enjoyed painting those quite a bit too :)

GUWEIZ

Thank you! Closeups and low angles are always fun to use, I'm glad you liked it too!

GUWEIZ

It's always a bit of a difficult balance to strike! Being subtle can make the scene feel a bit more elegant, but visually less impactful. Too much in the opposite direction and it feels too clumsily edgy :)

GUWEIZ

Thank you for the kind words, and request! I recorded the voiceover right away, so I didn't quite have the chance to answer your question in there. But I will answer it here! Putting strong light outside the face mainly helps to retain the face and facial features as a single "block", helpful when you want to show some strong light, but not focus on the precise forms of the face. In this case, narratively it also made sense to keep the "mysterious" nature of the character intact, by having her face in shadow - with only supporting lights to define the form gently. An alternative lighting setup that could work would perhaps be making the light coming in from the right side of the frame a lot stronger, and brightly lighting up part of the character's face ( mostly on her left side). It keeps the glowing eye effective in shadow, while adding some direct dramatic lighting. Let me know if there's anything I didn't quite get to!

GUWEIZ

Thank you! I was so close! I was for once organized enough to keep the effects on a separate layer for 90% of the process, but succumbed to painting everything together for the finish. Sadly that meant there isn't a finalized version with toggle-able blood, my apologies :(

GUWEIZ

Thank you! The first image definitely got mirrored somewhere along the way after I finished the far background, it's strange how I just don't notice it after my focus shifted elsewhere!

GUWEIZ

Thank you for the kind words! The colors are my favorite part of the process this time - the blue light really made a big difference for the scenes.

GUWEIZ

It's fun to draw! I have to get better at these too:)

GUWEIZ

Thank you!

Given the last few sets have shown Yin in "civilian" mode this one does a great of reminding everyone that she kills people for a living.

You know its gonna be a good day when Guweiz posts

I have a question. I noticed something about Yin's hand in the last scene and went back through your library to see if you have always done it that way (you have btw) and noticed that sometimes there is a short-haired character opposite Irena. My question is was that an experiment with Yin's style or a third character that didn't make the cut? You've always been very consistent with the character styling so they are easily identifiable and that you have done one off characters before like the schoolgirl with the cat and the witch and the tattooed girl shopping.

David Pevear

That's a lot of chilli sauce...But great work again! The picture 1 and 4 are my faves.

Neil Pinnock

Dunno why but the stepping through the blood on the stairs while covered in it is my favorite. Perfect looking angle to show how bloody the fight (massacre) was. Great work as always!

Thrownaxe

Looks like the lady needed to blow off steam. I like the contrast between her natural elegance and her ruthless action. But I'll stop now, she made it clear... (Scary, but beautiful, yet scary... ) :D

CJoe

Amazing as always!! If on the voiceover you could comment on the lighting on the last portrait, I'm interested in hearing why such strong white light outside the face works, and if you had to consider a different lighting, what could work too. It's the piece most similar to my style and I feel like I don't know where to start with the lighting, and I would never consider something like this but it works so well! Thank you:))

Júlia

She is so charming!! I love the last 2 too , her body shape is perfect and the white pupil in her eye gives me a supernatural sense. The first picture is a mirror I think ,the 玫瑰 and other words in the background is totally opposite.

Zwei Zhang

Such a dope collection, i love the last 2! I'm not sure if its bad form to ask, but is there any chance for a bloodless version? Obvi all g if not

THIS IS SO SIIIICK!! Love what you've done here, just wow. The detail is insane. Also the colors fit so well, what a great set!!!

Mirabelkowka

Obsessed with that expression in the 4th piece!!! Such amazing set ❤️

Shion Irene

I really like this atmosphere!
