GUWEIZ Patreon Series EP37.2 (Process Steps)

For those who've been around for a while, you may remember the initial rejected version of this piece that I showed! After quite a bit of planning and redrawing, it was finally done - and served as a tutorial piece for 3dtotal's latest instructional book along side many other artists' work.

Needless to say I'm unfortunately not at liberty to actually reveal and review everything I wrote in that capacity, but the regular breakdown and walkthrough is still on the menu!

As always, thank you for your amazing support here, and feel free to drop any questions below :)

I think sometimes it's very important to identify exactly why the sketch is not acceptable - is it because the inital idea turns out not as good as you thought? Or are you facing difficulties with lighting the scene, etc. Only when you know this then it's possible to work through it with purpose! I encounter it often when beginning sets, choosing between a lot of options for the 4 frames is tough and can take many sketches too.

Hey guweiz, I've been in a drawing bottleneck lately, and I've been sketching over and over again, only to realize that I'm not finished enough, and then I give up and start over, and so on and so forth. I don't know if you've ever been in a similar situation, but I wanted to ask you what you do when you're in a bottleneck to get through it.

In the first video of “tutorial” (minute 7:33), you add the yellow color by “selective color”? Ou just add manually and adjust by that?. Thanks and sorry for my broke English

Yoyo

Thank you for the very kind words! Let's hope for that opportunity one day :)

GUWEIZ

That is a great idea! Will definitely do that!

GUWEIZ

You're very welcome, I find that the "why"s vary quite a bit between pieces, but the "how"s tend to be a lot more straightforward too !

GUWEIZ

Sure!

hi guweiz i recently purchased your art book and i love it. seeing your art put tears in my eyes and smiles on my face when ever i turned a page. im an animator, and if there was ever a 3d model of your bad guys characters i would animate them in a heart beat. i love you man, keep drawing.

will you ever do a tutorial/demo on materials and how to properly paint them like metal, fur, feathers, stone wall, rusty metal, leather, etc? i know there are some bits in previous process breakdowns but it would be nice and convenient for an individual tutorial

SHIRAIsHORIZON

I enjoy your process walkthroughs! Often "why"s are more important than "how"s :) Thank you for another video!

Iga
