GUWEIZ Patreon Series EP 33.4 (Process Walkthrough)

The final process breakdown is up for the "Morning" set! Finally to the great outdoors :) The final piece, despite its simple composition, brings a whole set of unique challenges to my fundamental skills. Having done a lot of tutorials on perspective, this was a great refresher for myself to understand just how much it can REALLY affect a composition and how it reads. However, after fixing up the basics that had slipped away, I had a great time working on visuals and mood of the scene :)

As always, thank you for your kind support here on Patreon, it means a lot to me! I hope you find this helpful! As always, all questions are welcome below in the comments.

What practices do you usually do to improve your painting skills? I usually watch you explain a whole picture, but I want to know what small exercises I can do to improve myself? Instead of drawing a complete picture every time.

Happy new year to you too! It can be a rough feeling, and sometimes it's inevitable to feel a little stuck. What I really like to do is to just browse Pinterest for a bit - even really basic "aesthetic" type photos can sometimes hit the right spot - or once in a while you might even find actually interesting and uncommon material that really motivates you to get moving. Drawing training isn't always drawing :) Sometimes it's just relaxing and looking at interesting things! On the other hand, it can feel a little like we are restricting ourselves to "good ideas only" and find it hard to start drawing if we have no AMAZING idea at hand. However I find that a lot of perspective expansion comes when you actually start drawing - so even if you have a premise that interest you but you find too "basic", just give it a try!

Guweiz, HAPPY NEW YEAR (I know I am late) and I have a question. What daily habits do you apply that make you want to draw so much? I draw at least once or twice a week, but I feel like I have much more time, just not the motivation at that given time. I always find myself stuck in front of a screen thinking I would draw, but nothing comes up that I find 'fun'.
