Gold (Full-size + Process steps)

I had quite a lot of fun creating this piece ( https://www.patreon.com/posts/full-res-image-50485480 ) over here that I thought it would be nice to try another image with a similar composition. This type of mood and setting is still a little new to me so it was a little daunting to take it on! However I think the results aren't too bad and I'm looking forward to refining my ability to paint more environments with specific thematic designs!

Thank you very much as always for your support and kind words!

Note: For patrons who prefer to use a translator software as English may not be their preferred language, I always attach a text file with the words in the process.

Thank you for the question, I think as always, the underlying principle is to capture from big to small. Firstly, the big shapes such as the hair and silhouette come first, followed by slightly smaller things, such as eye/eyebrow shape and size. As I also use a simplified style (compared to photos and reality), I can get away with just showing a few obvious similarities and allow viewer imagination to do the rest. Of course the clothes/pose also help add to that sense of familiarity.

Guweiz, i want to ask. How you make the model face always similar to other in different pose. I mean, people can feel that is the same person. I always have hard time to make character face looks same but in different pose, angle or situation. Any advice teacher?

She reminds me of Anya Taylor Joy! I love it, it’s like a late night meet up after an infiltration mission.

Of course, I use reference whenever I feel like the pose is not looking right or just to check how things should look :)

GUWEIZ

Yes of course! If you have the skills to model a complex scene in 3D first, it can help a lot during the painting process. (In fact it is probably something I need to look into as well) However, at the same time, you also need to be careful of mistakes/stiffness in the 3D model continuing onto the painting.

GUWEIZ

Guweiz, i wanted to ask something too pls :p, do you think it's a good idea to use 3D to like, do the poses, and put some props for your scene ? other than finding ref everywhere, you can model it like a sketch in 3D en render the lighting and use it as a base for your painting ? what do you think of this process ? if you have an opinion !

Glaiyn

Do you use references for your poses?

Thank you :)
