Update on why I’ve been MIA

Hey everyone,

So I figure it’s probably time to let everyone know why things been a bit lacking on projects and stuff while I have a bit of energy. It can basically all be summed up in one word: cancer.

Yeah... and not the astrological sign either. To keep it brief, I basically discovered that I might’ve had a tumor in my arm back in the end of January/beginning of February. I wasn’t too worried since my bones have always been a bit messed up due to underlying issues, but to play it safe I did the whole biopsy and scans and all that stuff.

Fast forwards a bit and it was in fact an active tumor, so that sucked. But, the good news was that this type of cancer has a pretty decent success rate of treating (osteosarcoma if anyone is curious). Bad news, it involves surgery plus chemo... yay...

Anyways, I’ve been going through treatment and stuff and as you might expect, it’s very tiring. Like... sleep 48 hours tiring. I naively thought “Hey, surely the effects of chemo won’t be so bad as to prevent me from doing at least a little bit of comic making and stuff right? Heck I could write my scripts while doing the chemo IV!” And as you might’ve guess... yeah no... not really... Well the script part was actually kinda accurate, I don’t feel the effect of the chemo until after the IV is done so...

But anyways, that’s the reason why I’ve been unable to get much out for you guys and why it might’ve seemed like I’ve been slacking. I just figured you guys should be aware so you know I’m not just skipping out or anything ha. I have a brief break between chemo sessions thanks to my low blood cell count so that’s nice(?), so I might try and get some stuff done while I have the energy. If it’s not clear, I’m not planning on just stopping making comics, I enjoy it too much for that. And really, I’m not worried in the long run either, it’ll all work out one way or the other. I just wanted to let you guys know what’s been happening and to thank you for making me feel like my comics are a worthwhile effort ha.
