A MASTERPIECE!! ...maybe I was REALLY wrong! | Takopi's Original Sin Ep 4 Reaction!

Bro needs to watch Obi Wan

Stark

I think one of the main themes this show tries to establish is how easy it is to fall out of reality; it has chibi characters, a plushie octopus, beautifully animated with OSTs that completely contradict the events that play out. From Takopi to the adults and especially the children, they all live within their messed-up conjured-up fantasies. Marina's mum is depressed at being undesirable, the show purposely begins to draw her as an unsightly figure with no eyes her fake reality is the want of Marina a 9yr or something to be more "lady-like" continuing to pummel her "youthful" face, it's why she got increasingly more pissed when Takorina started to talk in the Pi voice, funny enough it reminds me of severance when the board wanted Milchick to talk more simple, opposite happens here and the mom bullies Marina into more sophisticated dialogue, the Dad's fake reality of believing everything he does is justifiable because it came from his own pocket and Marina's fake reality of a obviously cooked relationship working itself out. Now obviously, we know Azuma's mum was being unrealistic with her expectations of Azuma, as was Azuma of himself, but here is where it gets really interesting. Up until this point, the only two characters who were somewhat grounded in reality were Shizuka and Junya. I think Junya is a device the show uses to show what happens when you don't hide from reality, he knew he wouldn't be happy if he were to shelter himself to study, he knew his mum was a bit much but he was also balanced enough to tell Azuma she very much still loved him (pancake b4 night shift). Which is why i think the pressure scene with Azuma and Junya was incredible, yh it was crazy exaggerated like u said bc it resembled his anxiety but the very scene that played out afterwards was the same just in a more realistic matter, he knew Azuma did something bad (poor job hiding the camera and escape plan), he knew that the clinic's reputation was gonna take a heavy hit, even grabs Azuma's waist in the same way but in a less exaggerated manner, there was no good outcome here and thus he shows Azuma he's always there as his bro and helps turn him in which counteracts the prior scene with Shizuka claiming she'll stay with him but then fucks off to go find the one piece. Now with Shizuka it's not that i think she's bad or even anywhere close to Marina but her reality is extremely grey. She knew she was getting bullied, she knew why and that there were slim chances of it stopping, even when Takopi arrived she doesn't question anything and didn't even see his existence as "magic" which is why she rejects the happy wings and doesn't care about every other gadget that follows until one claps Marina, She doesn't wish for her mum to be a different way, doesn't wish for her dad to come back, the show was being deadass it really is Chappy or no one. Everyone else and everything else has made her unhappy. So yh it seems like she's manipulating Azuma but i don't agree, she just not very smart? (bless her) she doesn't read any books and the only reason she got the idea of Azuma turning himself in is because Azuma himself brought it up. She definitely likes Azuma and Takopi to an extent but she's very black and white, she'd happily trade them two in a heartbeat so even after Azuma got sent down, yh she was initially upset but in her current world Marina is gone and Chappy is still *alive* in Tokyo so why wouldn't she be happy? It's crazy bc now she appears as the more tone deaf character instead of Takopi who's slowly being shapped by the world. Sorry for the long ass message but the episode was a mastepiece defo ep of the year for me maybe even of the last two years, i just had to get my thoughts down.

I agree with ED take. On my pov Shizuka is 10-11yo, shut-in from what it looks like, very neglected, and abused, wanted to die... so hopeless mindset. She is mentally broken, the manipulation thing is in actions only, she doesnt know what she is doing. Mentally she has disassociated and just goes with whatever looks reasonable at this point to get to chappy and her dad. And doesn't care about the how as long as it looks she can make to them. Is really sad
