Project Vault Game Dev log 10

Hey it's a big month for the game dev logs! I finally got a new build wrapped up and ready to go for folks to play around with :3!! Gonna go ahead and drop a link in here for any patreon folks to play around with! In general any feedback is super welcome with it! Likewise it should be controller compatible at the moment with the build (so long as it's recognized as an Xbox controller), but some of the menu's haven't been tested extensively. So controller support might not work in all menu's.

So with that here are the major things that got worked on this month!

Save/Load Game: Spent a good chunk of the month working on overhauling my current save system. Now it's a bit closer in line with what I want as a end state for the game that harkens back to some of the old save station/save room types you would see in games like Resident Evil or Megaman legends. Pretty much specific spots in the map that have the capability of saving the game to put a bit of risk into some of the exploration/stealth aspects. Most of this is a bit behind the scenes, so nothing really to interact with in the current dev build.

Menu Overhaul: Another chunk of the build went into cleaning up a lot of the menu's and options for the game. Most bugs have been squashed in them, and likewise they should have some controller support functionality now!

Gadget Equip and select: Finally got around to cleaning up and working on the gadget select also! The player is now able to switch between the gadgets that Bod builds in the game! Likewise a bit of work went into some of the menu's to help facilitate these changes. There is probably a few spots it is going to need cleanup, so expect more from it down the road as I finally start implementing a lot of the tools that Bod will be using in the game :3!

Game Map: Got an initial concept art map also done for the game! The game focuses on a specific region of Bod's world, so I wanted to make sure and capture the general vibes of the place! Been using this to also help with a bunch of dev tasks such as locating major zones and points of interest :3!

Rebuilt the Block Pushing level: So with a lot of the changes I did for the movement and overall systems, the old block pushing level was a bit out of date. Worked on cleaning that up a bit more so that it wasn't a visual mess to play with and a bit closer to what I had in mind gameplay wise! To this end, a lot of the camera's have been completely reworked to show this! Going to be continuing to implement some new stuff in this level as I work on more stuff in future months :3!!

So what is the focus of March? I'm going to be pivoting back to working on some of the traversal mechanics. One of the things I need to finally add into the game is a ladder system, so that is going to be a huge focus. In addition it's time I finally implemented the Squeeze traversal >:3c!!! So I'll be working on finally implementing that!
