Wow, everyone here's kinda shitting on it. Nothing wrong with that, just an observation. Personally I don't see anything wrong with the series, I like it a lot so far. But I didn't read the manga or know anything about this until I turned episode 1 on so take that how you will

2024-10-09 23:05:13 +0000 UTCaw man, wow yeah this drop in the quality is a HUGE disappointment! i don't understand how they could make the first ep look so good and put so little effort into the second one. i mean, i understand trying to allocate budget to help important parts of the story shine, but especially for THIS manga in particular, it's kind of important that the entirety of it is done well... uzumaki plays a lot with absurdity alongside its horror, and the art/pacing is hugely important for striking a balance that keeps it both fun and silly without losing what makes the concept of uzumaki scary; that's why the manga really does work super well. i would definitely recommend checking the manga out- if not to read it all for yourself, at least check out some parts to see the difference in how it's handled. i wouldn't call the work 'scary' in a typical sense, it's more about existential dread. honestly it's a FUN read, which i think is what makes it special and one of ito's more popular works. seeing this just makes me wanna read the manga again and appreciate it more in the face of another mishandled adaptation...

2024-10-06 19:34:36 +0000 UTCAs someone who's read Uzumaki, this does suck. It's a trend with Ito's adaptations (and horror manga in general) that the Manga is better because of attention to detail. But episode 2 was probably one of the worst Ito adaptations I've seen. It was just slapped together with no care at all. I'd say check out the final 2 episodes just for the ending, because it does get wild. It just sucks that after 5 years that this is the final product.
