Tracking the organic quality of attention (guided meditation 28min)

The purpose of this meditation is to track certain characteristics of experience as they naturally change in time so we can learn about the stages of insight on the micro scale. Preparation for a mature 1st Jhana (guided meditation 37min)

A mature 1st Jhana is not about blasting your mind with fizzling fireworks of piti (which is unsustainable and more a symptom of repressed energy being released). Instead, we're going for a slower, subtler boil of gradual, appreciative bodily "pleasure born of seclusion" (to quote the suttas directly). This method I've found is a much more reliable and sustainable way of building up to 1st Jhana.

A famous maxim of Stoicism is: 'focus on what you can control and don't fight the rest'. Though we may have many initial presumptions about what lies in our control, unless we clearly examine the locus of our presumed power we may remain deeply deluded and spend a life time fighting what we never had any influence on in the first place.

Finding yourself in time (guided meditation 32min)
