Think the show is best when it's slow and focuses on the core cast and reminiscing on the past; when that stuff happens the show is basically perfect. And this episode is one of those amazing episodes. Personally had some issues whenever an episode is more action-oriented; for me the fight choreography wasn't that interesting to watch (animation might goes hard, but like 80% of the fights just kind of ended up being mage fires big attack and other mage blocks with a barrier, with the fight being fairly static). Also personally I haven't went full d riding mode like ED is with regards to the newer characters, particularly the characters introduced for the mage exam; most of them are just OK and I didn't find them that interesting and kinda made the final arc a slog to go through for me personally. Show is 7.5/10 overall for me.
