If you haven't already noticed, I am changing the Patreon name from "Standable" to "I3Llamas" which is what I generally go by online. This change will allow me to focus on other projects as well as Standable without everything being branded as "Standable".

BETA back on track

Today I am wrapping up preparing for the Patreon beta.

I will make a post here when it is live, but I plan on waiting a few days before I mention it in the Discord server as I’m sure it will take a bit to get things ironed out and I don’t need an influx of Patreon members while I figure that out.

Slight delay for Beta

I just got my PC working again yesterday (or at least I think 🤞) but since then I found some major issues that will take a couple days to patch. After that I still need to finish getting the beta tutorials quickly made.

I am hoping to get it out as soon as possible. I am thinking about a week (maybe sooner) before I can release it for you guys.

Perfect. Just perfect timing.

I was planning on finalizing the v2.0 beta the next couple days, but my computer seems to disagree.

I can barely get 10 minutes without VRChat crashing, SteamVR crashing, the entire PC bluescreening, or all of the above.

v2.0 BETA news!

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

While I don’t have a special someone this year, I do have a special announcement!

After a few bug fixes I will be making the Standable v2.0 BETA accessible to my Patreon supporters! (Gold and Diamond tiers)

I hope to have it ready for testing in the next couple of days. I’ll make sure to post here once it is, and give some more info on how it will work.

Hey, it’s been a while… I’ve got to get better at posting progress 😅

ANYWAY! I made some huge progress this week with the fully estimated hips/pelvis tracker.

I did a full rewrite of the logic, and now not only does it no longer weirdly follow your hands, it also allows you to roll around!

As you can see at the end of the video, I am VERY happy to have this done and working as well as it does.

Computer: out of commission (progress update)

A bunch of progress has been made the past few weeks. Soon a lot more stuff to share.

In other news: my computer decided to bluescreen 5 times today and eventually it just stopped booting windows. After some diagnosing, it seems my m.2 is completely dead.

Luckily I had my Standable v2.0 files backed up right before. So once I get a fresh SSD installed and reinstall all my development software, I should be right back to work.

Possible v2.0 beta soon*

I’ve been taking a couple days to rest after getting a possible concussion during a nasty Onewheel accident.

Despite that, development has been going well. The v2.0 framework is mostly ready for some beta testers. I’ve got to translate the v1.1 FBE algorithm to the new framework, but once that is done I’ll get a beta test going while I update the algorithm.

I’ll make a more detailed roadmap and explanation once I get back to work after my down time.

Permutations

Now that I have most of the framework of the new SteamVR plugin working I now can finally get to work on the FBE algorithms.

To support any combination of full body trackers, the v2.0 FBE algorithm has to have systems in place that are modular and can update on the fly.

In the attached image I wrote out each of the combinations I hope to support.

I’m back in town, but…

Recently returned to the VR cave, but I’ve got some stuff to setup/do before I can get back to work.

While I was away I couldn’t get much done as I didn’t have access to my PC nor VR, BUT I do believe I have figured out an automatic height calibration solution! More info in the coming days 👍

Family emergency / out of town

I will be out of town due to an unexpected family emergency. This means I won’t have full access to my computer so development will slow until I return.

While I can access my computer remotely, I won’t be able to properly test anything without my full setup. I’ll do as much as I can remotely though.

I don’t know how long we will be out of town, but I don’t expect longer than two weeks.

Boring backend + other stuff

My patreon posts have been quite sparse and boring, but that is mainly because I’m working on the important frameworks that will allow for mixing base station tracking & standable.

I just got a successful function hook to override any FBT tracker and set it to what I want. Again, boring. BUT important!

Once I get the backend/framework competed, posts will be much more interesting and engaging.

A point of reference

Just returned from a family trip and came home to some new Tundra Trackers!

These will allow me to test the mixed tracking system and have a reference to what I’m trying to replicate with FBE (instead of pure guesswork)

Remaking base/framework’s

To allow for many of the new features I’ve got to rebuild the underlying framework of the SteamVR driver.

Got most of the base finished but ran into an unexpected crash when trying to add the virtual trackers.

Hopefully I can get it fixed tomorrow. I need sleep 😴
