Onsen tamago ("hot spring egg") is literally just an egg that you eat at a hot spring inn, that's prepared in a certain way. It's pretty close to a soft-boiled egg, I think. I didn't know they were actually sold pre-made like that. I've always had it homemade and over a bowl of rice.
