Project Android Report #7

This one is about 10 days late but here we are!
December for me is a really busy month personally. Christmas, Birthday, Holidays, Family you name it it's a month long. Work slows to a halt and etc...
BUT Here we finally go with the Project Android Monthly Report!!!

First things first, I don't have any dialog to show off! Writing dialog has taken a back seat this month for the most part, which is why this report is so late in the first place. What I can talk about is the process in which we are starting to write dialog. In the past few months I worked through an outline with my co-writer, who is anonymous for now. With this we've filled out literally main plot point, tried to iron out a few rougher holes, and basically got to the point in the story where everything makes sense and it's time to write dialog.

The main part of the game is essentially you, the player, conversing directly with the android girl through a set of prompts that lead through dialog trees that ultimately get to various end results. We have a lot of the major end result ideas written, with a few dead ends that we're going to playfully insert for multiple playthroughs, purposefully shitty choices and etc... Of course the main ending will be easily attainable if you play through the story.

Our dialog writing progress has finally begun to start, with me and my co-writer coming up with prompts to spark conversations with our android girl. Basically our thought process started with "What would we want to ask something with actual artificial intelligence," to "What will progress the story," and everything in between. Having fun with it and being loose with it is what will ultimately create an organic story that people will enjoy even with a character who is supposed to be artificial intelligence.

We've wrote a lot of personality into the android girl. The main goal being that we create a character we can put into these situations and easily write with and around. Something that mostly everyone will enjoy for some reason or another. The character's personality, up front, is inquisitive, upbeat, peppy and a bit tomboyish, without being too overwhelming.

An excerpt from our design bible reads:

The android girl is particularly fond of activities exclusive to humans, without the express desire to become human herself. She becomes fixated on those human elements with an almost voyeuristic view of human culture. [...] even though she doesn’t want to be physical, she tries really hard to come off as human-like, often resulting in almost uncanny conversations.

Thank you for supporting me this far with this project... I put a lot of effort into it every month and without your contributions would be able to have dreamed to put this much thought into it. Thank you again and have a very happy holidays!

If you want to know more about the project, there's 6 other reports to catch up on if you just joined this month!!! Click the tag below to see more!
