Billy watched quietly as Dex breathing started to calm. No longer shocked and pain filled. Billy could feel that his opponent had recovered more than he wanted it to appear. Sneaky. Billy liked sneaky. He watched as Dex “struggled” to stand. As soon as Dex was no longer looking at him, Billy moved. Dex held on the wall for support, and barely had his legs under him and Billy was behind. Dex didn’t see, hear or feel Billy move, which was difficult because his opponent was massive and the empty pool they fought in amplified sound and vibration. Billy stood poised behind Dex, so close there were places where they were barely millimeters of space between them. A trill of danger ran up Dex’s spine and his skin goose bumped as he continued to stand. His thought it was just his conscious mind reminding him that Billy was behind him, which was true. In reality, it was the caveman portion of his brain screaming that the monster from the dark was far closer than he realized and was ready to pounce.
