Changes to WIP build access and deployment
Added 2015-10-25 23:57:58 +0000 UTCCurrently when deploying a WIP build, we are sending out emails with personalized links in them. Even though automated, this has been cumbersome and complex to manage. Furthermore, a consequence of sending emails is that there’s a slight delay before new patrons get their download. And even worse - some users don’t seem to get their emails! So it hasn’t been optimal.
From the next WIP build, we’re happy to announce we’re moving on to a new system. By utilizing Patreon’s new OAuth functionality, we can authorize you through patreon at our own site. Once you’ve been authorized, you’ll gain access to the download, as well as a personal serial key that you need to use to unlock the download.
Benefits with new system:
- No emails
- Instant access (no need to wait for email)
- No personal links (same link for everyone)
In addition to this, it is also a lot easier for us to manage. So we think this is a win-win for everyone involved in the project. :)
