Here's some funky lil evolutions for these ones~
Its funny to see that the overall vibe & posing for these two hasn't change TOO much (I haven't really been using my old art as a reference or anything, going at these new versions of the gods from my current perspective & interpretation). Its neat!
I know the very first Aphrodite in here was loosely based off that superbly famous Venus painting so I tried to keep that ~vibe~ for the new edition. I remember redoing her in 2018 because I was a bit ashamed of the body I drew for her. I think its Okay now, I feel like its clear I've definitely become more comfortable at drawing nudity & figures.
THOUGH it WAS this project that actually really pushed me towards improving on the front, its kinda fun putting these all together side by side and really see how far I've come!
I never wanna bash or downplay the originals. Admittedly the originals & 2018 illustrations were also drawn traditionally in sketchbooks! There's definitely another layer of difficulty there I'm able to bypass a little with my new digital workflow.
