RP-Based Brainstorming!

Hey folks! Not too long ago Aowel asked us on our Farewell Tour post if we might be willing to share a few RP-snippets since I mentioned that for this story especially the two of us were using text-based-RP to flesh out the characters and so that I could get a feel for Raddley (Tas' character) which would make it easier for me in the scripting & writing process.

We do a lot of our RP-ing through Discord just because it has a very comfortable look & feel for us so if you recognise the UI haha-- That's why. I've recently found out that some people Text-rp through Google Docs and other platforms which is absolutely fascinating to me.

I personally went from DA chats to skype to discord so hey LOL.

Keep in mind these are also very casual and not meant to be ~literary~ in any way. There will be typos and goofs here and there!

This scene is near the beginning when Raddley is in the process of catching Jax before he makes it off planet--I'm using Buzzkill in the narrative because Jax & Radds aren't acquainted yet/having introduced themselves. 

These two are honestly really fun to work with hehehe, if you couldn't tell.

This next scene is a little bit later in the timeline--context is that the Company ship firing on them in the first scene really damaged her pulse drives/boosters and launched them into a system whose drop point is a few months of travel awayyyyy.

This is Jax's like first and last big attempt at trying to get away before the two of them settle into a better rhythm.

This is also the second version of the RP we did it once before and it was much looser as we were still trying to build the plot but this gets across that we're mostly just figuring out character dynamics and playing fast and loose with the setting. Feeling out general vibes!!

I'd be willing to post a few more maybe later once we get into pages and actual production but right now a lot of this is still really up in the air and likely to change a little bit as we get to finalising the story and optimising it for a graphic novel instead of weeks-to-month's long RP sessions!

Not going to lie, we've been considering creating a story where we pretty much publish it as we'd write it in RP-form (mostly the back & forth character moments, a bit more properly edited for print of course) as a different means & vessel for storytelling! I think it could be pretty interesting to write something in this kind of format as a final format!

I know I'm personally extremely interested in story-telling methods that stretch past what the Rules say stories should be told in and using different styles to get different vibes of storytelling across!

There's a lot percolating over here, its a shame we only have 4 hands to work with on a lot of these projects and limited time & energy to really get them out haha!

ANYWAY-- TL;DR this is pretty much how RP works for us. This one is a lot more refined in that we knew exactly what plot elements we wanted an roughly what order we wanted them in. These RPs can get a LOT rowdier with some of our much more loose ideas (those I'm um, a bit less comfortable with sharing because they're quiet messy).

But I hope this was some fun insight! I'm always eager to know what part of the process you'd like to see more of from us so always feel free to reach out with requests and we'll see what we can do to prioritize those for you!
