Tiers Update and Incentives added.
Added 2018-12-23 03:44:26 +0000 UTCThe tiers have been updated with rewards. If i can help it, I want to avoid staggering early chapters out further and further ahead by tier. For one, I don't have a buffer, and second, that just makes me feel scummy and icky to think about, even though i could seriously use the funding. The early chapters and side character short stories will come to all of you guys first, and then trickle out to Royal Road or any other free sites I post the story on.
For Name Drops I can either use your real names, or a suitably altered handle or pseudonym to fit into Skyclad's nomenclature. As long as it's not one of those gaming team handles bracketed by letters and numbers, we can figure something out if you don't want your real name used.
For Epic Deaths or Heroic Swoops, I'll work with you via private messages or some similar manner to plan your character's scene. I have plenty of villains and heroes slots that have not yet been fleshed out for battle scenes, and also non-combat ones. Wise bartender like Guinan from Star Trek? It'll be a while before Morgan gets to a tavern, but other main characters will be coming up in the next dozen chapters or so that start out in taverns. Or near them. A whispered word at the right time can save or doom an adventurer, and you might like the idea of being the suddenly profound speaking bystander who's advice saved the day. Think outside the box! We can work with it!
For the custom class or skill perks, I will get your input for the above mentioned Epic Death or Heroic Swoop, and the eventual scene will either showcase class abilities or custom skills based around your ideas. Skyclad's world system is very fluid and adaptive, in case that wasn't already shown, and almost everyone in this world has their own flavors or quirks added to the basic skills. Basic and Generalized skillsets exist, of course, but everyone has a skill or two that they're just -really good at- or that somehow otherwise fits their character. I'll work with you and we'll figure up a class based on your ideas that fits Skyclad's system and can be shown in the story. I cannot predict when exactly, but things will be moving rather swiftly within a few chapters, so you won't be waiting long:)
For the Prime perks...
The Charactorium is a living document that changes on a daily basis, sometimes getting deleted and restarted entirely. i use it for references and notes to help me with dialogue and things that random people will say, like the scene with the baker and the priest in zizzy's chapter.
In it is a section of historical figures for the world of Anfealt(the actual planet's name, means Anvil, as in the "Anvil upon which stories are forged", bit of lore there i haven't been able to put into the story without it feeling forced and awkward so far). the key manner of polite "goodbye" in skyclad is "may your story be remembered." it's important, a core component of the actual "why" of the system, and the cultures and peoples of the world are aware of this mechanic. one of the names the oracle is known by is the "custodian of stories", and i'm lookin forward to her future chapters as well. in the charactorium is where the legendary figures of skyclad's past go, and various characters and people in the world will reference them, both as swears, curses, or prayers and blessings. mighty heroes or nefarious villains, their Stories are Remembered. I'll work with Prime Tier patrons to build a character with a history that made such an impact on the people of anfealt that they still use their names or refer to their legendary skills or classes with reverence or fear.
i'll try to answer any questions yall have, and pls forgib mah grammar, the ducks aren't on call to edit my writin outside of the actual chapters...
