Damn x99 platform, one week ago my workstation once again have decided to fail it's booting process with "overclocking failed" message. Ok, I have discharged board capacitors and have cleared cmos, have loaded OC profile, and all seems okay, but windows boot manager have told me that it's drive is not accessible and refuses to boot... All is okay now. But this is crazy things, unbelievable, I have spend almost three days to found how avoid this creepy bug, still have now idea what causes it, looks like it comes from Secure Boot feature, but who knows...
Anyways, I have decided to put my i7 6950X CPU and X99A XPOWER GAMING TITANIUM mobo from my main workstation to render farm, and tomorrow, if everything will be fine, I will go and buy 18 core i9 7980XE(should be two times faster in vray then my current cpu) and Gigabyte X299 AORUS Gaming 9 mobo(no idea about this one, I don't like Gigabyte, but it seems like a good mobo for x299 platform and have a very positive review on tweaktown portal), already have ordered this hardware at the store, and waiting when it will arrive.
