Faller, Noun: Someone Experiencing Interesting Times - Chapter 21

A day or two later, Neil found himself, quite literally, on a ferry. A ship, if a very small one. Evidently, it ran between the small town sitting at the fork between Route 121 and 122. A seaside town - honestly just large enough to not be a village, that primarily seemed to be a rest stop for trainers as well as a tourist town. Fishing and tourism definitely made up most of their industry, given what he’d seen.

He had half a mind to find himself a fishing rod and see what bit. Maybe ...

Eevee Therapy for Little Magi - Surprise Interlude: Cross-Talk Meeting

Porygon-2-54374372  (Shepherd to his meatspace friends) hummed as it set up the virtual chatroom for their guests. Creating a real-time link between four separate regions was tricky business, and there was the variable number of clients who might be joining. But Shepherd was a simple creature at his core; and tricky work meant fun work.

You could only play so much Dwarf Fortress before you needed a break, after all.

Shepherd paused his work as he felt the first alert...

“...Hello there.” Neil greeted belatedly, after a second of rubbing his eyes to make sure that yes, that was a Poochyena sitting in front of his tent staring at him, “One bark for food, two barks for just a spar, three barks for if you want to test me as a potential Trainer.”

Perhaps he shouldn’t have been surprised when the doglike Pokemon barked trice immediately.

The Dark Type had spunk that was for sure. Idly, Neil held open the tent’s flap, looking over his should...

Faller, Noun Delay

This week's post of Faller, Noun - Someone Experiencing Interesting Times will be delayed till tomorrow. I am currently wrestling with a heck of a lot of anxiety and other "wonderful" emotions due to some stuff that happened IRL.

Apologies for the delay.

“Y’know, once we get to Mt Pyre I may see about getting buddy buddy with a Ghost Type too. A Snorunt or Froslass if I’m really lucky. I thought I could take the heat, but the lack of sea breeze is turning me into a human slug.” Neil said conversationally as he broke off a few pieces of pemmican and curry paste into a simmering pot over their modest campfire, pitching his voice into the woods for Raiko to hear. Mostly because Emeraldina and Eevee were deep in their own convers...

Illya shaded her face against the morning sun, looking out over the brown and greens of the Mirelands stretching out before her. “So you don’t know anything about Lady Ursaluna?” She looked over at their temporary travelling companion, raising one eyebrow.

“Nothing I haven’t already told you, Miss Einzenbern,” Donovan said, the Pearl Clan ‘observer’ having come to check in on the kids after their confrontation with the currently-in-disgrace clan head. “While all of us ...

“On a scale of ‘awkward silences’ to ‘get ready to dodge some cutlery’, how much is this going to suck?” Neil asked as he rocked back and forth on his feet, thumbs hooked on his pockets.

“Somewhere between ‘awkward silences’ and ‘screaming match’, I think.” Raiko admitted softly, withdrawing into herself briefly before she shook her head, slapped her cheeks, and nodded towards Eevee, “But we’re doing this anyway. Ready Eevee?”

Always.” View Post

“Rock Tomb!” Her Trainer called, the wry note of his voice making it crystal clear that he knew how much of a formality it was. After all, her only other ranged move was Fairy Wind, and well.

Skarmory.

Nothing to do but grit her teeth and power through it. This battle had been chosen specifically because of their mutual lack of any real options to manage a one-hit KO on the opposing party for the purposes of practice. Her battle with Eevee more than showed her that no...

Eevee Therapy for Little Magi - Interlude: Special League Conference; Dark Days Ahead

International League conferences were not uncommon affairs; both bureaucratic and combative meetups had been a mainstay of Garde since the League’s founding. That being said, those conferences were typically scheduled well in advance, and were positioned in or near major cities, allowing their guests or contestants time to schedule flights, make arrangements, and other travel concerns while having civilian comforts and infrastructure in place.

Misora had been very surprised...

The battle froze. Neil couldn’t blame them for it, given that from what his on-and-off online research had turned up? You just plain did not see anything like Mega Evolution, Z-Moves or Terastalization outside professional matches or the Gym Circuit. Several people in the crowd were visibly rebooting their minds after having them be blown, and even Raiko and Eevee were sharing a nervous glance with each other.

There was no grand announcement. No catchphrase stated as Lesya to...

It hadn’t taken all that long for the pair of highly competitive trainers to find a referee willing to preside over a battle between two professional trainers. Not when the group of individuals were hanging out at the Contest Hall, a place where trainers congregated to begin with. Heck, they had even drawn a small crowd of bored trainers, both obviously local and obviously not who’d wandered over to their chosen battlefield. Lesya was evidently a well known minor celebrity, something that...

He and Raiko had parted ways after that. She’d gone white after seeing a message on her phone, babbled something that could generously be considered an excuse, and scrambled off. Thankfully after she’d exchanged contact information with him and he’d extracted a promise from her to meet up again tomorrow to discuss his options for training Mawile. Mostly because he sure as shit didn’t have any idea where to start beyond looking up tutorials online. The Joy who had sent him out in the m...

Eevee Therapy - Chapter 51: No Shortcuts or Short Circuits

Tohsaka Rin was proud of her heritage. Less proud than she’d once been, to be honest, but there was much to be proud of. Wealth, power gained through effort, accumulated wisdom and a heritage which unlocked the secrets of the universe, or at least the barest vestiges. That pride had sunk into Rin herself, which was one of the reasons she’d not really thought hard about accepting the Gym challenge alongside Agate three months ago. She’d succeed, because that was what a Tohsaka did.

“Right, so.” Raiko began, swiftly leading Neil through the unfamiliar streets of the downtown area. They had left the more ‘traditional’ markets behind a while ago for the more blatantly modern areas of the city, “Smartphones. I assume they exist in your world?”

“Where do you think the music we listened to came from?” The brown haired man asked with an arched eyebrow as he fished out his phone. It was useless other than for the data inside of it and being able to pair wi...

Not long after they had finished battling and hugging things out, the intrepid quartet of partners made their way back to the Pokemon Center. Raiko swore by always swinging by the Center after a battle if at all possible, even if there were no visible injuries. She then blushed very cutely when told that she was preaching to the choir.

Sure, Mawile looked fine and had metal bones, but internal bruising could be an insidious bitch. Either it would be five minutes in and...

Rin’s head was on a swivel as she and her sister walked around Nimbasa City. Despite learning to use modern technology at a nearly unheard of level for a traditional magus family member, she still found herself a little overwhelmed by the sheer amount of lights, theme parks, and attractions littering the modern city streets. Neon and bright signage everywhere she looked. “How does anyone find their way around in this city?” she asked, dodging a group of tourists heading into what seemed...

The brief silence had turned into a longer one when their food had arrived, placed before the four individuals who sat around the table; though the nonhuman pair of the two remained more on the ‘floor’ than at the table proper. Our intrepid pair of trainers and their Pokemon had eaten their food in relative silence, taking the time to simply partake in the joy of their mutual company and the good food.

Eventually, however, all good things had to come to an end, and the pair had depa...

After spending so much time in Evergrande and Anna’s Threads, the quartet had agreed to conclude their shopping for the day and head towards a restaurant recommended heavily by Raiko. A rather humble hole in the wall nestled between two major restaurants, but having twice their customers combined as the line stretched nice and long.

It was moving at nearly walking pace, though, so Neil didn’t whisper so much as a word of complaint. He knew what flavor of eastern eatery he’d gotten...

The interior of Evergrande was… homely. There was a certain sense of peace that came with looking at a place that someone had lived in and enjoyed living in. Art and photographs lined the walls of the entryway, complimenting the wares on display all around the place.Handmade (pawmade?) accessories, hats of every imaginable variety, and so much more lined the walls in abundance. Over a rather soothing and catchy orchestral piece playing as background music for the store, Neil could just bare...

“Right, since Mawile and Eevee want their turn next, we’re headed a little further than usual.” Raiko commented, her Eevee plodding ahead of her for once instead of behind her. The fox was definitely more excited for this than her trainer had been, “There’s a few options, so I figured I’d run them by you so you can choose.”

“Sure. Lay ‘em out.” Neil said with a bob of his head.

Raiko bobbed her head happily, “There’s a traditional place run by a branch of J...

“So, what sort of essentials require a legal identity to get?” Neil asked conversationally, one hand thoughtlessly petting the steel fur of the little lady perched on his shoulder. They had been walking towards the shopping district for a while now and the question had been bugging him for longer. He couldn’t really come up with anything, so.

“You should go out and explore Lilycove, Mr. Lee.” The nurse on duty had told him after a very late breakfast on his part. Regigigas wasn’t the only one with one hell of a Slow Start. She’d handed him a rather hefty chunk of change with instructions to spend it on necessary items for himself and Mawile and had sent him on his merry way.

Perhaps it should not have surprised Neil that he had spent a good two hours rambling about the finer details of Italian theatre to his starter, especially when she had been both a willing recipient of said autistic ramble and had spent the entire time making all the right curious chirps to egg him further on. On the matter of Fallers

by Professor Burnet

Fallers. A term coined in Alola to refer to those that fell out of Ultra Wormholes, then later universally adopted to refer to all of those who have come from a world or dimension that was not our own. Fallers are a controversial topic in many ways, due to the radical effects they consistently have on society. Fallers have been some of the biggest heroes in history. Fallers have also been some...

General status update and new project

Hello everyone, Miho here. Sorry for being absent for essentially the entire month of April. I was experiencing a combination of creative burnout and depression, which for personal reasons I will not really be sharing the cause of at this exact time.

Regardless, both of the issues have resolved themselves to some extent, and I'll be resuming some of my regular activity. You can expect, for example, the next release of Eevee Therapy to happen 'on schedule' on July 1st, 2025. It ...

“How big is that family, anyways? Other than ‘very’.” Neil asked idly, meandering towards the iconic blue sliding doors.

As they stepped into the lobby and began walking towards the counter, Mawile walking in lockstep with the intrepid trio, Jeanne replied, “Very. Partially due to adoption, partially because apparently pink hair is genuinely a dominant gene. It especially got easier for the major clans to get bigger through adoption with the introduction of Ditto though. Those...

“Begin!” The call from the ref snapped everyone’s attention right back towards the battle, the sight of both a Grovyle and Flygon making Neil’s eyebrows tickle his hairline. It wasn’t like they’d pulled a Latias or Shaymin, mind you, but those were still way heavier duty Pokemon than he’d been expecting from a pair of unremarkable schoolgirls.

One did not often wake up in an unfamiliar alleyway with no clue how they got there. At least, not without a splitting headache and the aftertaste of one’s poison of choice, or enjoying themselves an ice bath and some fresh surgical scars. But here Neil was, blessedly experiencing neither but dealing with a heat that said middle of summer instead of a nice early spring chill.
