y’all gotta understand that cynthia is an ALIEN. she really DOES just sound like that. look up any vid of her performing live,,, & theres footage of her on the broom singing defying gravity live too!! also, for non theatre people, part 1+2 are basically act 1+2 when you see the live show, so instead of a 15 minute intermission, we have a year long one 😭 pt 2 is MUCH darker so get ready y’all !!! goated music is in act two FRRRR <3

Onstage they couldn’t make elphaba fly so to make a practical effect that made it look like she was flying in the final scene she was lifted in a harness and a large cape like this one was blown under her and made it look like she was flying. There was a lot of these little things that paid homage to many adaptations of Oz in wicked including the title card Wicked part 1 was in the same color and font to wizard of oz, there’s also a lesser known film of the wicked witches origins called Oz the great and Powerful, in it the wizard is a man from Michigan who was a fortune teller and magician named Oscar Diggs who scammed people (this also references the original wizard of oz and the man who tries to scam Dorothy) his hot air balloon is swept to oz in a storm like Dorothy’s house was. In the defying gravity scene you can see Oscar diggs posters and the same hot air balloon he used.

It’s normal and has been for a millennia of thm to work and talk like we do. But come on here in our world if an animal spoke or someone was born blue or purple we would all be shocked. It isn’t someth8ng they’re used to. Also Ariana’s boyfriend who yes was in the library scene was still married to his wife here lol,

There’s even a video of someone who was just passing by the sets who recorded a leaked video of Ariana singing in no one mourns the wicked and she could be heard singing on the freeway it was so loud and as you may know music is never played live in music videos or musicals adapted to film. There’s also plenty of bts videos of especially Cynthia doing defying gravity live in the harness as she was flying. Another cool thing is that if you pay attention to Cynthia’s solo songs they start more subdued and as the film progresses she makes her voice bigger and more open to express elphabas journey from self loathing and insecurity to confidence and acceptance of herself and her future.

Frank Baun by naming the wicked witch after him EL =L. Pha = Frank (minus the r in frank) and ba= baun
