Looking back at this arc I'm reminded of the Avalon/World Tour arc of Disney's Gargoyles series. BTW, if you have not seen Gargoyles then you really need to: despite not being published in Japan, and even though it is quite a bit older than even Avatar: the Last Airbender, Disney's Gargoyles remains a paragon of animated storytelling.
Anyway, much like the protagonists of the Gargoyles series during the World Tour arc, each of the Straw Hats was sent to a place not where they wanted to go but rather they needed to be. Of course it seems like you're getting a grasp on how some of them will benefit from this, but it'll be a bit before we'll get to see just what they ended up grasping from this forced detour of theirs. Hope you'll let us hang with you till then.
P.S. I really hope that you can find a moment soon to go back and finish up Slime season 2, then perhaps you might look into Disney's Gargoyles. I feel confident that you will not regret it.
