If you are going to read the manga, this is a spoiler, but to the best of my knowledge they never say this in the anime. In the manga, the cover page of chapter 666 shows what happens to Bon Clay after this episode. Bon Clay survives his fight with Magellan, we are never told how, and he manages to make it back to Impel Down level 5.5 and become the new leader of the Newkamas.
