As others have pointed out, the bar stuff is filler. But, the flashback of Roger's execution is actually pretty close to the canon. I wonder if they actually got Oda's input on that. (Oda usually doesn't directly help with the anime, except for a couple of the movies, but the anime team will consult with him on some stuff). Oh yeah, for Funimation's dub, they went full on stereotypical PIRATE for Roger's voice. For any other character it would be cheesy as hell, but seeing as we're talking about the greatest pirate who ever lived, it actually works really well. The actor's voice just FEELS epic and grand.

2020-05-29 23:36:31 +0000 UTCI like how Oda Sempai is toying with "R" and "L", because Japanese tend to switch them around. "Loguetown" Meaning "Roguetown" Where thiefs and pirates meet to stock up on provisions and stuff before heading to the Grand Line.
